Here are my goals from last week:
1. Drink at least 8 waters a day. Helps me with my water retention, even though i take a prescription diuretic.-yes my drinking water has been good this week.
2.Don't eat between meals or after dinner! This is a big help for me as snacks etc really are a trigger for binge eating.-let's just say not so good
3. Stop and think. Enough said ;)- i actually did stop and think but didn't always make the decision that would have been smarter ;)
4. No white sugar, white flour or white bread as these are also triggers for me.-i tried to stay away and did for the most part. But i could have done a lot better!
5.Remember bottom line it's my choice, how will my week be this week?? Will i choose wisely??-It was my choice and i didn't choose as wisely as i would have liked
This weeks goals:
1. Keep drinking that water!!
2. track my sodium this week
3. stay as far away from the white stuff as possible ;)
4. walk at least 5 times this week
5. make better choices!!
6. stay relaxed and know that i can do it ;)
So since this is the beginning of september tomorrow my goal is to have a healthy month! To move more and to eat healthy foods and the nurture my body.
Do you have any new goals for september??
Saturday, August 30, 2008
I must confess that i've stopped the one hundred push up challenge!!
Well for one thing i was up to a total of 81 pushups and i was doing this three times a week! I think i was devoting too much energy to just upper body strength. Not that i didn't see results. I did. And i will do push ups as part of my weekly workouts, but i just couldn't keep it up ;(
It was hard for me to try to put in my weight workouts when i'd just exhausted my upperbody the day before! And i just felt exhausted with them.
Anyway now i'll get back to a normal schedule for me. Walking at least 4 days a week and 3 weight workouts. And as much moving around as possible in between.
This sounds weird but im looking forward to the cold weather, i love winter because i go out in the woods behind me and hike all over the place, going where no man has gone before me ;)
So now back to your regularly scheduled program!!
Friday, August 29, 2008
So the thing i was looking at was sodium. Now i know i have high blood pressure although the dr is pretty sure it's hereditary. I'm already on a diuretic plus another medication for it and it is always right on where it should be when i go to the dr but i figure i really should be watching this. I didn't even know the numbers i should be looking for. So i looked it up and as far as i could find you should try to stick to under 2,400 mg/day.
I went back to check a few days in the last week or so and yep i've gone over that a few days. I don't use salt a lot but some of the foods i use have a lot in them.
hearty vegetable soup where i work-930 mg!!!!!
butterball turkey pepperoni-230 mg
low carb pita-480 mg wowsa's
7g of hormel bacon bits which is like a tsp 240 mg
lean cuisine ravioli which i'm taking for dinner tonight has 580
the ham that i love because it's only 60 cals for 3 slices has 310 mg
I've decided to keep track of my sodium and just see if eating a bit less makes a difference over a weeks time! Now i realize any one is way under 2,400 but after you add it all in a day it sure adds up and that's without using a salt shaker!!
I'll definitely post back in a couple of weeks and see how it's going.
Do you watch your sodium??
Thursday, August 28, 2008
Today i'm back off to work (yes with the donuts)once again. However food wise i'm doing pretty well. So i'm pretty confident that i can resist anything at work!!
Scale wise i could have murdered it this morning, but after a few minutes kind of laughed and figured it will come back down sometime. The only reason i could see was that my sodium was a little high yesterday, which i find kind of funny since i don't use a lot of packaged foods or frozen foods?? Oh well. That's life ;)
This i think is supposed to see how much of a foody you are ;)

I took a regular recipe and tweaked it and i've used it time and time again ;) Now for this i do use some white flour although i also used whole wheat. It just works for this!
Lemon cranberry muffins
1c whole wheat flour
1c white flour
1c splenda the baking kind
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 egg whites
1c almond breeze(calls for milk but i like this)
1/2 apple sauce
1 tsp lemon extract
1c fresh or frozen cranberries
combine all dry ingredients.
in another bowl combine the wet ingredients.
Stir the wet into the dry until just moistened.
Fold in the cranberries.
i use a silicone muffin sheet but if you use the normal you either want to spray with non-stick spray or used muffins papers.
Bake at 400 for 20 mins or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Getting ready for my meeting this morning putting on my "skinny jeans" and having them feel a little tight. Definitely a bit of a muffin top going on there. When hubby gets up takes a good look up and down me, and says "god you look good" ;) Gotta love him!!
And here's a picture of city hall on my walk today, it just looked so cute.
My walking hasn't been so great this week as my legs seem to be really bothering me. Although i did give the wall sit up a try and boy oh boy they hit the muscles.
Oh well maybe if i rest the legs a bit this week i should be able to pick up the pace next week, as i do have the race coming in september so i'd better get my butt in gear!
Having no cavities for the third time in a row is amazing for me, maybe it's not eating all junk i used to????? Ya think ;)
And thanks for the thoughts you guys shared about the 'white' stuff! I totally agree, i find it very addicting. If i eat it i want more of it. So no white stuff this week ;)
I've got to take a minute and tell you all i love reading your blogs in fact i think i'm becoming a blogaholic!!
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
I was a little worried because it's the weekend for me and sometimes i tend to go overboard. One thing that helped was the fact that i had a plan ;) I knew what i was going to eat and i was definitely going to enjoy it!! And that i did.
Also went and got my hair cut which is always a boost.
Tried Mizfit's lunges now that was a laugh ;) They rock!!
I really think the staying away from the "white" stuff, flour etc, helps me with my cravings i didn't have any again yesterday.
And i'm really thinking about checking out pilates. It sounds like a very smart way to exercise. Not that i don't love what i do but i looove variety ;)
This morning it's off on my bike to the dentist for a check up. Update: No cavities ;)
Monday, August 25, 2008
But i'm sure glad it's "my" weekend now ;) Today's plan? Catch up a little on cleaning around the house. Do a little reading. Watch a movie with hubby. Steak on the bbq and a nice glass of wine. What more can one ask for?
So far i'm hitting my goals 100%. I'm not a perfectionist but i'm riding a wave here ;) There's no stopping me now!!
1. Drank my water
2. Didn't eat after dinner
3. I did some serious thinking about how i eat and do the things i eat contribute to my health.
4. Didn't touch white flour or sugar or white bread.
5. Chose wisely!!
Hope everyone's having a nice Monday ;_)
Sunday, August 24, 2008
So i'm up 2.4 lbs to 142.0 ;( No i'm not very happy with that or with the choices i made.
But now i'm on to another week.
Here's what last weeks goals were:
1. Try some new weight exercises until i find ones that i really like or that work well. Last week i tried the lying side bend and i didn't like it so i replaced it with something else ;)No this didn't happen i did some weights this week but not as much as usual (wow this could also have given me a gain, sarcasm thrown in here ;)
2. Spend more time with hubby. I'm always on the go or on the computer, i need to take time to slow down and be with hubby ;) Did have some good quality time with hubby but still spent a lot of time on the comp!!
3. Plan my menus.This i actually did ;)
4. Keep up with the food journaling.I did this but didn't write down everything!!
5. Do my walks. And don't forget the bug spray!!!!!!Nope didn't get anywhere near as many walks in an usual.
So what are my goals for this week ;) I'm going to keep it simple and do-able:
1. Drink at least 8 waters a day. Helps me with my water retention, even though i take a prescription diuretic.
2.Don't eat between meals or after dinner! This is a big help for me as snacks etc really are a trigger for binge eating.
3. Stop and think. Enough said ;)
4. No white sugar, white flour or white bread as these are also triggers for me.
5.Remember bottom line it's my choice, how will my week be this week?? Will i choose wisely??
So for this week it's back to basics which i'm hoping will give me the swift kick in the butt i need ;) Stay tuned next week to find out!
Saturday, August 23, 2008
So not much to say today ;) However i will be posting pictures tomorrow!! I'm off to have mucho fun.
Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!!
Friday, August 22, 2008
After being home for a while i got bored and hit the refridgerator. It was my choice.
I definitely chose foods that are not in the best interest of my health. It was my choice.
Today i'm taking it one day at a time. I'm eating for my health just for today. It is my choice.
I make little choices every day, sometimes good ones, occasionally bad ones! My main problem as i see it is that i like to look ahead, see where i'll be in a week, in a month. I need to stop this and just live for today. Tomorrow's another day, and i can worry about tomorrow!!
Choices, it all comes down to that. Today i choose to look after me ;)
Have a great weekend!!
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Just realized i have a baby shower to go to saturday, any have any suggestions on nice but pretty cheap gifts??
Another question! Boy i'm just full of them this morning ;)
I find that it's costing me more and more lately to eat well. Any tips on eating well without blowing the budget which i've been doing for the last few months??
And is it just me or my imagination but it seems that every time i turn around i see reduce your carbs to this or you need more carbs for that or this is the best way to see your weight going down???? Honestly i get so confused!! Last night i was actually reading a low carb book and in the end i put it down and decided to just keep doing what's working for me!! But when i see these things, first thing i think of is, oh if i do this i'll lose weight even faster! No matter that i wouldn't be able to keep it up.
Anyway that's my rant for today ;) Any help with the questions would be appreciated!!
Wednesday, August 20, 2008
It must be one of those days because my daughter forgot to change her alarm so she was half an hour late for work!!
So my plan this afternoon is to do some cleaning, do my push up challenge, go to the store for some fresh veggies and relax!
Here's my push ups for today:
at least 20
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Today i was supposed to go to a meeting where they were supplying lunch, i was debating whether to put a few healthy things to eat in my backpack in case there were no healthy choices there. But late last night got an e-mail that the meeting was cancelled ;) So once again a healthy lunch is in my future.
Exercise today is a weight workout:
3x12 lunges holding 10 lb weights
3x12 bridges with 10 lb
3x12 shoulder press with 10 lbs
3x12 lying triceps 10 lbs
3 boat poses
try (maybe) walking plank
So here's to another nice day and it's not even calling for rain!!
Monday, August 18, 2008
So I took that broken cookie and put it on the back counter for anyone who wanted to eat it!
All night long i looked at that cookie every time i walked past. And every time i thought you know just a small bit or crumb wouldn't hurt! And no i'm not that bad that i think it will do any damage on the scale. But..... i know me, and a crumb of sugar leads to a whole cookie which will lead to 2 or 3 cookies and these cookies are 7 pts each!!!!!!!!!
Finally at around 9:00pm someone finally finished it off ;) And it wasn't me ;)
I was very proud of myself as sugar is my major downfall!!
Today i'm doing my push up challenge:
Now i know i do the girlie ones but i honestly don't know whether i can do this, although if i do the rest of the weeks ones don't look as hard ;) So get through this and i can sail through the rest of the week.
I'm also going to my walking group and i'm going to time myself on the track to see how fast my 5km is. Depending on how my leg feels ;(
However, when i get home i'm going to sit outside in our new patio furniture with a beer and relax with the hubs!! Then we're barbecuing, fun, fun, fun!!!
Hope everyone has a great day ;)
Sunday, August 17, 2008
As for last weeks goals:
1. Try a new weight routine-i made a complete weekly routine working out my total body 3x and it was awesome, i'm feeling so much stronger ;)
2. Not focus on being perfect about everything because i'm surely not perfect and never will be ;)-definitely didn't try to be perfect and was very happy with the way the week went
3.Plan my menus and shopping again-planned and had great meals
4.Walk at least 4x this week-managed to get them in and one of them was for 2 hours and 10 mins!
5.Make sure i journal all my food again the good the bad and the very ugly ;)-i did and i managed to find a neat new site for putting in all my stats, calorie count plus and it's been really good.
6.Take more photos on my walks!-yep i was on that too
So all in all i have to give myself and A+++++ last week ;)
Now this weeks goals:
1. Try some new weight exercises until i find ones that i really like or that work well. Last week i tried the lying side bend and i didn't like it so i replaced it with something else ;)
2. Spend more time with hubby. I'm always on the go or on the computer, i need to take time to slow down and be with hubby ;)
3. Plan my menus.
4. Keep up with the food journaling.
5. Do my walks. And don't forget the bug spray!!!!!!
The main difference i've found this week is that my body is getting that much stronger. Even the days where it's hard to bend down without feeling every muscle in my leg, i'm loving it. The funniest thing this week is when i was bending down at work and groaning because i was really sore another girl at work was walking very stiffly and i asked her if she was o.k. and she laughed and said it was from her lunges to which i came back with oh and mines from squats. Too funny even if i am more than double her age ;)
The only place i'm really not too happy with is my stomach. After 2 cesarean sections and gaining and losing weight it's not such a great thing to look at ;) But then again i don't do a lot of ab work, although i am doing some this week.
So i'm on to another great week and since i'm getting so close to goal i'm sure my weight loss will be slow but hopefully sure ;)
Saturday, August 16, 2008
I was so glad i went on my walk yesterday, the weather was beautiful, the scenery awesome and i felt totally bang on for working out!!
Today's plan is another weight workout, they really seem to be kicking my butt this week (in a good way:)
3x12 squats with 10 lbs
3x15 step ups with 10 lbs
3x15 kneel, heel, taps
3x15 front raises with 10 lbs
3x15 hammer curls with 10 lbs
It's funny at work i was telling them about my leg and they were totally shocked, they couldn't believe that it would happen to me because they think i'm a total health nut ;)
I had a young girl who has diabetes tell me that if it could happen to me she's definitely on the wrong path with her health!
And the stupidest comment i got was from a woman who believes that you're going to get whatever you're going to get whether you have a healthy lifestyle or not so why bother!! #%^(*)*&^
Oh well you just can't change some peoples beliefs! However i will still continue trying to enjoy my life as i get older and i totally believe that the healthier you are the more you enjoy it ;)
Friday, August 15, 2008
Today i got up a little earlier so that i can get a 5 km walk in before work. I've also got the push up challenge to do and here's what i'm doing with that today:
20 then rest
15 then rest
15 then rest
15 then rest
do at least 18
O.k. it's official they're trying to kill me ;)
As far as the cholesterol goes after my rant yesterday i looked up what the maximum amount you should have daily is and it turned out to be 200 mg. Yesterday it turned out to be a grand total of 40 and today is also around 40 so i'm actually doing fine with it. However i'm still going to be keeping an eye on it as i think for my health it would be pro-active ;)
Yesterday i decided to start really tuning into my body when i'm eating. I have a habit of eating my food and enjoying it until it's gone. But i know that sometimes i was actually full before i was finished but just kept going anyway. So this weekend i'm focusing on slowing down my eating and listening to my body ;) This morning i was eating my oatmeal pancakes and yep i threw away about a 1/4 of one. I was really full although i know only too well i normally would have polished off the whole thing. Major NSV for me!!
Thursday, August 14, 2008
squats- 3x 12 with 10 lbs(it's obvious to me today that these were what made me sore tuesday ;)
bridges-3x12 with a 10 lb weight
3x12 leg abduction
2x12 lying side bend
3x12 shoulder press with 10 lbs
3x12 tricep kick backs with 10 lbs
3x 12 bicep curls with 10 lbs
And i'm putting the nutrtionals for smart ones lasagna florentine. Now don't get me wrong i eat all kinds of foods and as long as i think it fairly healthy i'm good to go! And the other thing is that i don't usually eat frozen dinners but i like having them every now and then ;)
So i'm putting the numbers in and i come across 30 mg of cholesterol!!!
Now this is something i'm especially trying to avoid as i was told that cholesterol is the biggest culprit for the blocked arteries!! And this is in a weight watchers product!
Is 30 mg not that bad??
Have i been eating a lot of cholesterol and not realizing it??
I'm definitely going to be keeping my eyes open when i go grocery shopping.
Wednesday, August 13, 2008
So i'll go out on my own for my walk today. I also have the push up challenge to do today. This is the level i'm working on today:
max at least 15
As far as dealing with the news from the dr last night, i've decided it's just going to push me to get even healthier!! I will watch to make sure i'm eating mainly good "fats", i'm going to keep pushing myself as far as fitness goes! And i'm just going to do the best i can while still having fun. And without driving myself crazy ;)
Tuesday, August 12, 2008
The bad news is that the right one is bad and that the left one has started to do it as well.
So this means that i have to go for an angioplasty. Oh well at least my right leg will feel better!
Oh and his recommendation until i can get it done was to make sure i go for walks ;) To which i told him i had that covered!!
So this is what i managed to do:
3x12 squats with 10 lbs weights
3x12 leg lifts each side
4x15 chest presses with 10 lb weights
3x8 front raise using 10 lb weights
3x12 bicep curls with 10 lb weights
2x 25 bicycle crunches
Now i'm super happy because usually i only use 5 lb weights. And i used to totally suck at chest presses unless i used 5 lb weights, but since doing the push up challenge i guess i've gained some strength there!!
Oh and now i'm going to go have a shower before the dr since i stink ;)
Exercise today i have planned an total body workout:
squats with weights
bicep curls which i'm going to do less of but with a higher weight
Then tonight my daughter is once again making those delicious cupcakes ;) A friend liked them so much that he is paying her to make 3 kinds so that he can take them into work!! So tonight we're making the icing. Love mother-daughter time ;)
Tomorrow we bake.
And MizFit just for you i'm trying not to musterbate ;) go with the flow not with the must do's.
Monday, August 11, 2008
I got off my bus early to walk to my meeting today. Then the meeting finished early so i was able to meet my walking group and go on a walk. So in the end i walked a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes ;)
I did my push up challenge this morning!!
I feel wonderful, strong and calm ;) I have sat down and worked out a do-able plan for my exercise this week. If i don't do it all that's fine, but at least i've got something written down that i can follow.
It didn't rain today!!
And yes i took more pictures ;)
Sunday, August 10, 2008
I also have been thinking that maybe i'm not eating enough points some days. So i'm trying the vamp up my points a bit this week and we'll see how it goes. Since i'll be exercising more it will probably even out.
I'm also trying to not worry so much and go more with the flow ;)
I sometimes wonder if the binge eating comes from the very low calories and i'm wondering if by increasing them it will help cut out the binge eating?
Anyway, since i've been up since 5:30 this morning i'm sitting here half asleep. I'll be back tomorrow ;0)
Saturday, August 9, 2008
And the good news is that i'm down -1.6 bringing me to 139.4. Yes, yes yes i'm finally in the 30's. Yep i'm dancing ;)
As for last weeks goals:
1. walk at least 4-Done maybe not for as many minutes as i would like but still done
2. do weights at least 2x maybe up my weights-did the weights didn't make a decision on whether to up the weights. But i did just get weigh training for dummies so i'm going to look at that this week!
3. journal all my food the good the bad and the ugly-I did, i'm not proud that i had a few not so healthy moments this week but the good out weighed the bad ;)
4. stay away from the scale-Well...... i started out not looking for a few days, but i ended up looking for the last couple of days!
5. plan my menus and know what i'm going to need on my grocery trip-this i definitely did and it helped inormously.
6. focus on the positive changes i've made and find time to relax and breathe-i have been much more laid back about things this week in a good way. And this is what i'm trying to do more often.
This weeks goals:
1. Try a new weight routine
2. Not focus on being perfect about everything because i surely not perfect and never will be ;)
3.Plan my menus and shopping again
4.Walk at least 4x this week
5.Make sure i jounal all my food again the good the bad and the very ugly ;)
6.Take more photos on my walks!
Friday, August 8, 2008
I'd like to go for a loooong walk ;)
I need to pick up some groceries in order to have lunch and dinner for work today.
I have to go to work by 1:30 today.
I really need to clean up the house today.
I would like to start working on my menu plans today.
I'd love to just sit with a cup of tea and read a book.
So what am i going to do??
I'm going on a shortened version of my long walk on the way to the grocery store. Then i'll come home and put it all away while trying to get lunch ready and get ready for work and if there's a few minutes in between i may just sit with a book until it's time to go to work ;)
How's your day going??
Thursday, August 7, 2008
How? Well for so long now i get on the bus close to home, then i get off early! Leaves me with a 40 minute walk ;) No choice!
But the funny thing about it is that i'm so used to doing it that it doesn't occur to me to stay on the bus until i get where i need to be. Now that's a habit.
I would love to have other habits that are as normal as that one is to me.
One would be stopping eating when i'm full not when the plate is empty.
Another one would be after indulging in something having the ability to say o.k. that's enough, stop now!
How about getting up and automatically putting my workout clothes on?
Not thinking twice before ordering the healthiest option on the menu!
What habits do you do automatically and which ones would you like to have??
Wednesday, August 6, 2008
I'm definitely getting there today!! I don't feel that energy that i'm usually feeling,
I've heard people talk about cycles. As far as losing weight and exercising goes, they say that first you have the hunger and the incredible want to do it. Then they talk about getting into a kind of hump phase.
Well i think i'm getting into the hump phase. I need to give myself a kick. I'm not sure how i'm going to do it.
Does anyone else get that bored, kind of "whatever" mood?? How do you deal with it?
Don't get me wrong i'm not giving up or giving in. I just want to get a bit more oomph into it ;) Maybe challenge myself to to do more! Do things i don't usually do?
