Salad love...

What is it with me and salads?? Either i love them or don't want to touch them!!

Luckily lately i've been in love with them, in fact they are so good i could eat them twice a day and i do sometimes.

I have started to experiment with different ingredients and i try to make them as tasty as possible.

What are your favorite salads?? Any special ingredients you can't do without??

Met up with my walking group last night. I had a great time, although  honestly can't wait to get the stent put in as my leg is really bugging me. It just cramps up and honestly i feel like an older person hobbling along sometimes.

Thanks everyone for participating yesterday, i just love reading the answers and promise i'll do this as a weekly post until i run out of things to ask :) If anyone has a question they'd like me to post please let me know.

  1. My problem with salads......I like to add all kinds of things (craisins, croutons, cheese, nuts, etc etc etc) that racks up my points/calories to the level that I may as well not even call what I'm eating a 'healthy' salad. tee hee hee

  2. chickpea's! I love chickpea's! I spend more time trying to find the chickpea's I put on the salad, to pick them out then I would if I would just eat the entire salad! YUMMY!!!

  4. I don't like salads as much when it is cold out, but on those days I tend to eat soup (kind of a warm salad). I have probably never made the same salad twice becasue I just throw whatever I have on hand in it. Right now, we are getting 1/2 dozen stalks of asparagus each day from the garden, and I love just tossing it in raw. I always have some protien, usually chicken but sometimes tuna. And I like red onions as well. Oh, olives are good too!

  6. Jicama and Feta Cheese!! Not usually together, tho'. :) I also like to add dried fruit once in a while.

Loved the questions, but really enjoyed reading the reponses. We're all so different, yet so similar in some ways. Interesting.

  7. Salads just aren't as exciting as sweets. I too have an on again/off again relationship with them. Right now, totally off!

  8. My favourite spinach salad has craisins, asiago, green onions and balsamic vinigrette.

Lately I'm all about using salsa and yogurt (in place of sour cream) and multigrain taco chips (or pretzels).

  9. My favorite salad (got at a cafe and recreated at home): bag salad, julienned fennel bulb, craisins, shaved parm cheese and pine nuts. You don't need a lot of the last 3 to get a kick of flavor.

My everyday salad: bag salad, 1 tsp nuts and 1 tsp crumbled cheese. Lately I'm mixing pistachios and blue cheese. I count the nuts and cheese together as 1 point and use spray on dressing.

  10. I prefer salads when it starts getting warmer. I make all different kinds from Buffalo chicken to thai shrimp to vegetarian, etc ... There's an asparagus salad I make paired with a broiled tomato salad that I love together.

  11. Blue cheese! But just a little, in little pieces. I eat a few salads a week, especially on days when I don't eat many other vegetables.

  14. I do that, too! Some days I go to fix and salad and think...um, no. I can't do that again. Then the next day I'm all salad-y again.

I try to make different combinations of ingredients to mix things up. I love pineapple and grapes in salad, or olives. My favorite has chopped apples, walnuts and gorgonzola cheese. Yummy!
