Well last night was my first cooking lesson :) We made chicken with peppers and sauce, curried couscous with currents, and greens with a balsalmic/honey dressing. It was a lot of fun and this weeks homework is that i'm supposed to keep track of how many fruits and vegetables i eat!
Today it's back to work. Oh i forgot to tell you that the people that organize my race walk in September are putting on a 5K walk on Saturday. I switched shifts with someone so that i can go :) Even though it means working 6 am till noon and i usually work 2-10pm!! I may just sleep through the walk!!
This morning i was so wide awake that i actually made a mistake when i was making my breakfast, i was supposed to put peanut butter in and instead i put walnuts in. Oh well it still tasted good.
Oatmeal, bananas, flax seed, chocolate chips and walnuts, oh my :)

Yep i went to the dr's only to find out it was a mistake and i didn't need to see him :) Oh well better than bad news!!
Good news is that i got some walking in today!
Oh and then i came back and ate this to give me sustenance until the board meeting: A grilled ham and cheese sandwich, an orange and some veggies
I'm also taking a luna bar with me. I don't usually eat bars as i'd rather have "real" food, but at the board meeting they have many, many desserts! So my treat for tonight is a luna bar. At least i know the nutritional stats for it.
So today i have a dr's appointment this morning for i don't know what :) I got a call they want to see me! Oh and did i tell you what's happening with my angio plasty?? Well i was told i would be getting it in May and i still hadn't heard from them so i called them and found out he's behind in his surgeries so that i'm probably going to be put in late june or early july, hopefully!!
After the dr's i need to go to the store to find some sandals and jeans. Then it's home for lunch and then off to meet with a friend for coffee. Finally i have a board of directors meeting and then home.
There's a new scary movie out today, can't remember the name, and i hope to see that tonight!
Bowling party turned out great and i managed to avoid hot dogs and fries there :) It's raining cats and dogs here today, hope where you are is nicer! Have a great day

Today i'm going to a pizza bowling party that i've helped to plan :) I'm sure it will be a blast! However since i'm not too fussy on pizza i'll eat lunch before i go.
Hopefully i'll have photo's to post later.
The cooking classes i mentioned is part of the walking group i'm in. Although they are mainly for people who don't cook much i figure i may just learn a thing or two :)
After the cooking classes there is yoga and a free 3 month membership to the YMCA. Oh yeah i'm so looking forward to these.
And yes i'm enjoying my first day off :)

Today is Sunday not yesterday when i did my weight in :) Oh well i'll leave it for this week but it will be Sunday next week!!
I've actually done some housework!! One of these days i'll keep it up day to day. For some reason i'm organizationally challenged.
Today i started my day with this beauty! Soy, protein powder, strawberries and flaxseed:
Tonight will be my last day at work for this week and then i have 3 days off, although they are 3 busy days :) What else is new. Oh and i start cooking classes with a dietician once a week for 5 weeks. Hopefully i'll learn a few new things that i can pass on to you guys.

I swear my weight is like a roller coaster one week up the next week down!! So this week i'm up 1.2 lbs bringing me to 128.2. This week i must focus on more exercise :) Or maybe it was the frosted cinnamon roll that i had a head on collision with last night??
Sometimes i think i sabotage myself on purpose!!
But when you think of it, it's really nothing especially when you hear about tradegy's in other people's lives. Please go here and leave Jenna a supportive comment. Jenna and her family are in my prayers today.

Yep i made some awesome oats this morning :) And you know i love oats!!
It will be a busy day today as it's friday and it's always busy on fridays. Food has been great this week but exercise?? Not so much :( However i have started to save for my treadmill and it won't be that much longer before i can get it.
It will be so much easier to just hop on whether my hair is tidy or not won't matter. Well unless i take a picture!!
Oh and for lunch i had another green monster, anyone who hasn't tried these yet, you don't know what your missing.

It's off to the dollar store today to pick up things for the bowling and pizza party on monday :)
Then it's come home, get lunch, and get ready for work!
Oh guess what i started my day with??? A banana split :)
And the funniest thing i heard this week? I served hubby one of his favorites- made healthy. Turkey smoked sausage, baked fries and baked beans to which he says "i was going to ask you if we could order pizza but i've got to tell you this is soooo much better" :) That's why i love this man!!

O.k. i may be the last person to get the NURU exercise anywhere cards but the mail just came and i have two decks to give away. These are really good because you don't need any exercise equipment just your own bodyweight!! And they are full of healthy tips.
I was actually impressed with these. They have exercises for all major parts of the body and good explanations, they also have some beginner/intermediate/advanced exercises which is good since i'm definitely not at the advanced stage :)

Yes it's been one of those weeks where i've got my exercise in and enjoyed it! I've followed my plan for eating and enjoyed every last bite. And what makes it even better is that i have not been hungry other than when i was due to eat :) I've got to say i love this kind of week.
The only bad thing is that it seems to come and go whenever it wants to. No matter how much i can try to make it a great week it seems to be somewhat out of my hands when it's going to gel together.
So for the rest of this week i'm going to try to go with flow and see how long i can stay on this ride.
And for today?? I'm off to lift up some weights and then i plan on doing a watp dvd.

My non scale victory: i love stopping by the thrift store on my way to meetings. So today i stopped by and saw a really nice pair of capris the only thing was that they were size 8!! Oh well i figured i'd try them on and see if i could do them up :) Not only could i do them up but the fit really nice. Oh and i also picked up a toggle cardigan. Both ended up costing me $2.50.
I received a reply from the company that produced those fruit bites. Remember from an earlier post that i weighed them and got less than 1/2 of the amount that it said in the nutrional values??
I made this yesterday for my breakfast because i got up late and didn't want to eat too heavy that late in the morning :) I bring you my green monster!! It was actually a great smoothie, nice taste and it stuck with me till i ate lunch.
1 banana frozen in chunks
1/2 serving of protein powder (due to the fact i don't have much left :)
a big handful of baby spinach
I tossed all in the blender and voila. Don't be afraid to try new things!
Today's plan: i'm off to volunteer to stuff envelopes this morning and then i go to meet my walking group. And hopefully pictures will be up later today! Oh and i do plan on putting a couple of surprises in with the oatmeal give away :) Will post the winners tomorrow.

I went out for a walk, a nice long walk, 60 minutes actually :) You guys are rubbing off on me. I'm walking home with a bag of potatoes waiting for a light and i'm doing arm curls!!

After reading so many american blogs where they are getting all kinds of freebies to review/give away i was starting to feel bad for my followers because we really are never offered anything! Well i decided after being approached by NORU to offer some free decks of workout cards (which still have not come by the way) to take matters into my own hands and contact quaker canada to ask if it would be possible to have them donate some goodies for me to review/give away :) And they got straight back to me and said no problem!! Oh and they also said that in the future if there are any new products coming out they would try to send us some.
So i've been waiting patiently and wednesday got an e-mail that there would be a package arriving the next day. So first thing in the morning there was a box delivered with these goodies in them:
The oats both quick and large flake i'm going to use for oatmeal and some protein pancakes and review the results and post my honest opinion on my thoughts. In fact i have some banana/chocolate chip protein pancakes on the menu tomorrow, stay tuned! Oh and they sent some awesome recipes as well :) The other thing i'd like to review is oatbran so i think i may pick some of that up with my groceries.
So thanks to quaker oats canada i have a box of weight control maple and brown sugar flavor instant oats to give away and a box of reduced sugar apples and cinnamon instant oats to give away. I will also include copies of some recipes that they sent me.

You were right. When the body is exhausted and has no energy there's usually a reason. And mine?? Well i guess i'm coming down with something. Sore throat, no energy, puffy eyes?? Yep that would be me! So i don't see a whole lot happening this week besides going to work. And if it gets bad enough i will take a day off.
On the eating front? Lets just say i've been eating comfort foods. Toast and tea a lot. And last night hot dogs were calling my name, at least they were 1 pt hot dogs. But i'm really not too worried about it for now. Besides there's not a whole lot in the fridge until i go grocery shopping in the morning.
Oh and yes i'll be drinking lots of water.

Wow i feel like a balloon that has has the air let out. For some reason i have absolutely no energy or motivation!! And that just isn't like me.
All i wanted to do yesterday was sit around in my pj's. And that is exactly what i did!!
Honestly one day i'm super motivated in fact you would get dizzy keeping up :) The next day nothing, nada!!
Maybe it's because this has been a long journey for me?? And i'm so close to the end?? Maybe i'm just tired? No clue, but never fear i'm not giving up, just having an off day now and then.
Today my energy will be spent around the house, cleaning and then i'm hoping to get my haircut and that will give me a boost :)

Went to the store today and picked up some of these:
On the package it says you get approximately 23 pieces or 37 grams for 130 calories, no fat and 3g of fibre. Yeah that's 2 points!!
However before i counted out 23 i stopped and thought no i'm going to weigh them :) And this is how many i got for 37 grams. A total rip off!!
Well work is finally over for the week :) Today i'm going out and enjoying this nice weather! And yep, pictures will be taken.
Yesterday although i had a great weigh in, for some reason i just could not sleep the night before and that always throws me for a loop. So yesterday nothing went as planned. I didn't exercise, i slept in and my food was not planned. Not bad just not well planned.
Today i'm back!! And yes it's a planned day :)
The other thing i have to do is catch up on housework. Today is the bathroom!
Oh and i've started saving for a treadmill, i really want one after reading everyones blogs about how they jump on it and get it done and over with for the day. Does anyone have any suggestions about which ones are best?? And i know i won't be able to afford the top of the line ones but i would like to get one that has pretty good power and isn't too loud.

Well it's been a really good week for me. Do you remember a while ago that i said i need to deal with stress?? Well i did this week and it's like i've lifted a ton off of my back :)
Food this week has been great and i haven't been having any cravings!
Exercise on the other hand was there but not as much as i would like.
So this week the scale showed that i had lost 2 for a total of 47.4 lost and only 2lbs (maybe) to go!
So here are the goals i made last week:
1. Try to use no more than 5 sweetners a day this week! And believe you me this is about half of what i use right now. Mainly it's for tea and oatmeal. After reading everyones imput into how many sweetners they used, it spurred me to cut down :) Thanks guys! Well it started off great, i did 3 days only using 5 sweetners. Then i found i was using more as the week went on so on average i've been using 7-8 a day since. But this is still down from what i was using.
2. Really do need to do weights this week. Didn't happen!
3. Go to my walking group 2 times this week. This i did and i loved it :)
4. Eat clean :) And enjoy!! Definitely enjoyed my food this week
5. I know what i'm doing i just need to get on with it. I got the message and for me this was a great week!
This weeks goals:
1. Do more exercise!!
2. Need to plan the next couple of weeks menus
3. Get my haircut
4. Get out into the woods for my walk :)

Yep i'm off to work again today, and it's a very busy weekend let me tell you.

Twice this week i've been really sad by what some people order: 8 sugars in a coffee ordered by a very young lady. Or how about 6 sugar and 6 cream and we're not talking little creamers!! In an extra large cup that is cream 3/4 full and topped with a little coffee. What the heck are people thinking about??
And tonight we finally ran out of roll up the rim cups :) Which will mean it should slow down a bit.
Oh and this is how i started my day today, what did you have for breakfast today??

Today i got up and had this bowl of deliciousness: Banana, peanut butter and jelly oatmeal with a few walnuts thrown on top
Then i decided to make some carrot muffins, only i had 3/4 of the recipe started and realized i didn't have any crushed pineapple!!!! So i substituted yogurt :) I'll let you know how they work out.
Today it's off to work again! Yep since i only work 4 days a week and am considered part time i get voted to work the holidays. No worries with my daughter in Holland and my son in Alberta it was going to be a pretty quiet day anyway :)
And the best thing?? No chocolate in the house!

What is it with me and salads?? Either i love them or don't want to touch them!!
Luckily lately i've been in love with them, in fact they are so good i could eat them twice a day and i do sometimes.
I have started to experiment with different ingredients and i try to make them as tasty as possible.
What are your favorite salads?? Any special ingredients you can't do without??
Met up with my walking group last night. I had a great time, although honestly can't wait to get the stent put in as my leg is really bugging me. It just cramps up and honestly i feel like an older person hobbling along sometimes.

Last night i ended up having a half a bag of popcorn! So today's plan includes not eating after meals :) I know it wasn't much but i bloat up because of the salt.
Even though it's freezing out i have to go to an appointment this morning and yep i'm going to get off the bus early so i can get a 35 minute walk in :)

Cleaned out the fish today, of course Snuffy had to sit outside the door to check things out :) I swear he's just waiting for the fish to jump out of his bowl!! Oh by the way this is actually my daughters fish and i'm babysitting while she is living in Holland. Yes Jen he's still alive!
So today i have to stop and make an appointment, then i have a volunteer council meeting, then i'm off to my walking group, then i have a supervisors meeting at work!! Wowsa's and this is my day off :) And yes i hope to have some pictures to show you later.
Never mind, by the time i'm finished i'm going to come home to some bubbling homemade beef barley soup in the crockpot.

Anyway stepped on the scale this morning and i saw 129 which is up .6 but i'm pretty happy with that! I can still see my goal in the near future. Just have to pull up my britches and get on with it!

Well i'm sitting here eating my breakfast (2 pts berry scones) and all i can hear outside is the howling wind and i see little snow flakes flying by!!! So i think today is going to be a WATP dvd :) See Ron your rubbing off on me :)
For some reason since Thursday i've thought it's Sunday when i wake up, gee you think i want work to be over with or something!
So i'm working with a really nice lady last night and she says hold on i've got something to show you. And she takes out these photo's and honestly i did not recognize her, she's lost over 100 lbs!!! Wowsa's, how awesome is that?? Now i know people do it but i don't usually know them personally. She went on to explain that since she lost it she's gained 20 lbs and she's getting serious again about getting that off!! Good for her :) And imagine we both work in a donut shop!
She has inspired me.
So i'm making a list of new questions to ask, probably next week. Hope that's o.k. with everyone. It seems that everyone loved reading all the answers you guys provided, so i figure lets go for round two!
Anyway that's my day and i'm off to get my food ready for the day and get ready for work. See you later :)

Today i have to go to the grocery store to stock up on some supplies, but not before i had this great breakfast: plain yogurt, walnuts, berries, agave and some egg whites :)
Back to work today and unfortunately not enough time for a walk. Yesterday i did a weight routine that totally kicked my butt. I guess it's been a while since i did weights :(

1. How many sweetner do you use/day? How many is too many?
