Just back from my walk :)

Yep i managed to go on a very nice walk!

A brand new week :)


Yep i think i'm finally over the surgery!!

Today is get back on my plan and just do it :)

So today i'm going to a meeting which i will part bus and part walk to, then off to walk around the park with my lunch. Then it's time to meet up with the walking group. That should burn a few calories.

I've planned my menus for a few days so that will help, now all i have to do is stick to it. Hopefully i'll post later with some pictures from my walk.

Weekly goal update...


Last weeks goals:

1. Take it easy!!-Yep i did that :)

2. Keep exercising.-Nope i decided to just take it easy and do a full weekend at work and i figured that would be enough. It was, i'm wiped out just working!

3. Drink my water.-I had a couple of days where i didn't drink much water at all, but i'm back on the bandwagon again.

4. Enjoy the me time :)-This is going to sound strange, but i have a really hard time doing nothing. It drives me crazy :) But i did do it and i'm glad i did.

5. Keep working on figuring my camera out.-still in the process of doing that. But i'm a lot more comfortable with it.

This weeks goals:

1. Keep drinking my water.

2. Exercise this week. I'll start tomorrow by meeting with my walking group :)

3. Stay on my plan, veered off for a few days last week.

4. Chillax!!

Definitely a better way to start the day!


So i did take 1/2 a pill last night and ended up laying there wide awake for 2 hours so i got up and took the other 1/2. Woke up this morning feeling fine.

Tonight i'm going to try taking whole one an hour or so before i go to bed!

When i got up this morning i didn't want to do what i did yesterday and just start an eating spree, so i made myself a big bowl of oatmeal with blueberry sauce, some chia seeds thrown in and voila and very satisfying brekkie that will last me till lunchtime.

As far as exercise i'm not worrying about it till Monday as i'm working full shifts for the next 4 days and i don't want to over do it!

Thanks for all your well wishes yesterday i really did appreciate them all.

I'm going to have to be careful!!


So last night i took a pill the Dr prescribed for me to sleep. It's actually an anti-depressant but works to help you sleep.

When i got up this morning i was staggering!! When that finally went away all i wanted to do was eat which i did. I will have to make an effort to limit what i have when i first get up.

I got up had a nice breakfast, was still hungry so i ate one of my planned snacks for the day, and then i ate my other planned snack and then it went downhill fast from there!!

And i was tired up until around 2 this afternoon. So i think tonight my plan is to just try 1/2 a pill just enough to help me sleep with a few less side effects. Oh and tomorrow i go back to work so i definitely want to be awake for that :)

Too bad hubby!


We were having dinner tonight, pork tenderloin with scalloped potato and cauliflower and for dessert we had musselman's applesauce that i had won a while ago in a blog contest!

So as the hubs is eating the applesauce he says it's the best applesauce he's ever tasted, that is tasted like a fresh apple and that he loved the consistency. He also said to make sure we get that kind again!!

Only problem is we don't get it where i live in Canada :( Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Yes i went on a really nice 55 minute walk this afternoon and i do feel a lot better! Thanks for the support and positive suggestions.

The Dr did phone a prescription in to my pharmacy so i will be getting enough sleep for a while. I do think that was one of the things that was making me feel blah!

On a sad note i'll be going to a viewing at the funeral home tomorrow as the owner where i work, his mother passed away on Sunday.

For some reason i'm feeling a little down lately. Maybe it's a combination of the surgery plus the sleep problems.

Last night i did take something and slept for 8 hours and feel better physically today but for some reason i'm feeling a little blah, i don't even know how to describe it.

I even had thoughts of not doing this blog any more. And that just isn't like me.

So in an attempt to cheer myself up i'm going on a nice long walk as that usually helps me clear out any cobwebs that maybe in my head.

I. need. sleep


For the last month or so i've been dealing with insomnia. Every night!!

Take last night i went to bed around 12 which is my usual time because when i'm at work i'm not home till 11. I lay there until 3, got up for a while went back to bed. Lay there until 5 got up and took something to help me to sleep and slept till 9. For a total of approximately 4 hours of sleep!!

I can't keep doing this. The dr did give me a few pills to help me sleep, when i take them they work but i only have a couple left. So i think i'm going to end up phoning the dr for an appointment so that he can prescribe me something to take regularly for a while.

And the funny thing is i really don't drink coffee very often (maybe once a week) and i wind down for the last hour or so. And then i go to bed where my mind is going 100 miles an hour!

Anyone do anything that helps them sleep?? Please share

On a happier note this morning i stepped on the scale and i'm back to where i was before surgery which is awesome because for a couple of days there i hardly got off of the couch and i ate whatever i felt like :)

2. Keep on exercising but get more weights in this week-no didn't manage the weights but i have kept up with the walking

3. Get my new camera :)-Got it, now if i could just figure it out!

4. Relax after surgery and don't overdo it! I have a tendency to do that-Well i'm trying :)

5. Enjoy my days off of work!-Believe it or not i'm enjoying my time at home but i can't wait to get back to work and get back to normal!

Today i made it out for a short walk. At least i was out in the fresh air :) Even though it looked like it was going to rain any minute! And believe it or not the leaves are already starting to change colour. And no i didn't over do it.

Frustrating!!

I must admit having to slow down is really hard for me. I'm so used to working for 8 hours on my feet and going for an hour walk before work and then having energy left :)

Today i did what i was going to do but i'm done for the day now! Got home and was checking out my camera when i realized that the memory card that i had been using wouldn't fit the new camera. I had to buy a sony one to fit. Not only that but when i finally got it working i couldn't for the life of me figure how to upload from this camera onto my computer!! I finally figured it out but i was getting totally frustrated.

I will be so glad when i'm back to myself.

Today...

I'm definitely feeling better! Thank goodness, because yesterday i did nothing but lay around all day. I'm still stiff but walking doesn't bother me just the sitting then standing or trying to get out of bed. Thanks for all the well wishes sent my way!!

Today i have to go get my new camera and pick up a couple of groceries. Don't worry i won't overdo it but if i don't get out i'm going to go stir crazy :)

Hopefully by tomorrow i'll be able to go out for a short walk.

Today i'm also back to my eating plan! So yes i'm posting on mydailynosh today.

I'm o.k.!

Well i'm back home, sore but o.k.

The funny thing is that unlike ralph they didn't just put a bandaid on they put this humoungous amount of tape on it, i'm talking right up to my belly button and almost down to my knee and they put the big stone in between the tape to keep pressure on the site. So when i'm wearing clothes i look like a guy who's how do i put this excited!! Yep the rock plus all the gauze is that big :)

Oh and they ended up putting 2 stents in as the blockage was bigger than they thought.

Before the surgery i was talking to the surgeon who sat there eating a chocolate chunk cookie from Tim Hortons. I was teasing him because i couldn't eat anything to which he said don't worry i'll get you one. So after the surgery was finished he left and came right back with a cookie wrapped up with a sticker on it with my name and put it on my chart so that they'd take it up to my room for me :) Ahhhh he' s such a sweetie!!

And the other thing that was weird is that i was one of the last day surgeries so when they took me to recovery there were about 20 beds there and i was the only one there! It was like the twilight zone. And having to lay absolutely still flat on my back for 4 hours was definitely no fun and trying to sip water flat on my back wasn't either!!

So for today i'm kind of hobbling around trying to keep my leg straight. But he says i should be walking around o.k by Saturday.

Anyway i couldn't sleep on my back so i decided to get up and post this :)

Today's plan...


Well as you all know tomorrow my surgery!

So today is going to be spent going for a walk, cleaning the house and generally trying to stay busy :)

I don't leave for the hospital till later in the morning so i will be on the computer before i go! Don't want to get too far behind.

Last night i got my first good nights sleep after two weeks of only getting 4-5 hours of sleep each night. I finally phoned the dr and got something to help me. Me stubborn??
What a difference it makes for once i didn't wake up shakey and nauseous.

But when i woke up it sounded as though the end of the world was coming!! I guess they picked this morning to fix our roof. And all i can hear is banging and running on the roof and pieces of black stuff hailing down from our roof :) Oh well at least we won't have a leaks i guess. Oh well so much for a nice quiet day.

Today's plan....


Usually on Monday's i take a bus across town, walk through a park and then meet my walking group!!

It is way too hot to do that today. It would be better to go on my regular walk because at least the woods are cooler :) I have to admit it take a good shove to get me out the door but once i start i love it as usual.

I'm also not going to mind puttering around the house today. Think i'll also make up some menu plans and a grocery shopping list. I'm exciting like that!

A very hot walk!!

Weekly goal update...


Last weeks goals:

1. Move more :)-5 out of 7 days!

2. Enjoy the last few days with my daughter even though i'm working those days!-that i did, and i miss her a lot.

3. Get to the park to do some more tricep dips and pull ups.-Indeed i did

4. Sometimes i have a hard time eating enough (weird, i know) so i'd like to try to get to at least 1200 calories every day.-I have succeeded in eating more than 1200 calories every day :)

5. As usual enjoy my journey :)-It only gets better!

She's leaving...


Jen goes back to Holland today! Yep lots of tears will be shed :(

The good news is that her boyfriend has an oral agreement to be hired at the University here when his contract is finished in Holland so that means they'll be coming back here :)

I have really enjoyed having her home again! Even the extra laundry. Now it will be quiet until christmas when my son comes home from out west for a visit.

And now back to regular programming. It means i'll be back to my normal routine once again. So tomorrow morning my butt is out the door for a nice long walk before work.

I'm trying!


Well today i put all my food in my food journal planner and it showed that i was low in iron. So i started to look around the house for something with iron in it. Guess this is the one day when i could have used some spinach and didn't have any :)

Anyway i came across Kellogg's muslix banana nut and a cup has 60% of your iron for a day. Sweet, a little high in calories so i just munched 1/2 a cup.

Lately i have actually been staying within my healthy numbers for calories, carbs, fat and vitamins so all is good.

Getting a little nervous as surgery comes Wednesday. But also glad to be getting it done!

Jen leaves tomorrow morning to head back to Holland. I'm am definitely going to miss her and i loved having her here :) Then again we do the video camera thing and i can "see" her next week!

Next week i get my new camera. The one someone gave me has been working but it is a little bigger and heavier and i don't have a manual for it. But it definitely did an awesome job inbetween camera's.

I stink!!

Yep and i'm red in the face and dripping sweat :)

Got out for my walk, so far this week i've exercised every day!!

Back to work today :)


But not before i go out on another hot n' sweaty walk!!

Lately i've been trying to make sure that my calories aren't under 1,200, however the scale has also been going up a bit. There might be a couple of factors for that so i'm not too worried. I'll wait a few weeks and see if i can shake things up a bit, after my surgery.

One thing that has been great is that i'm not hungry! And am very satisfied with what i eating.

Anyone else sometimes have problems getting enough calories in??? And if you upped them what happened??

It's HOT

Just got back from an hour and 5 minute walk and it's boiling!! And yep i stopped at the park and did my exercises there as well.

Sweat is dripping off of my nose :)

At home today :)


Yep i finally have a day with no running around :)

So my plan is to catch up on some major housework, and go for a long walk. Although they are calling for thunder storms later so i may have to go for my walk early.

I'm thrilled with the digital camera that someone gave me. I think the pictures from it are really nice! Thanks J

I really wish i had a house fairy!!

Today's plan...

This morning i had a meeting followed by another meeting!! And yep i took my lunch :)

After the meetings it was time to stretch my legs by meeting up with my walking group!!

Ended up walking a total today of an hour and 40 minutes. Even the heat isn't bothering me today.

And i did it :)

After posting my weekly goals i got my butt off of the computer and out the door for a walk with a camera in my hand :) Although i was hemming and hawing about whether to go because a) it wasn't sunny b) it's supposed to rain. And then i thought if i'd just go i might beat the rain, which i did.

A girl at work whose father has 7 or 8 digital camera's gave me one of his last night. It's an older model but it will a great back up one to my new one. It also gives me one until i can get my new one!!

So i went on a 55 minute walk AND stopped at the park and did my dips and pullups!! Yes i'm already doing two of my goals.

And you may not see it but it's really humid here today my forehead and upper lip is drenched in sweat!

Last weeks goals:

1. Keep exercising!-unfortunately it feels as though this week just slipped through my fingers i did exercise a few times but no where near enough!!

2. If i don't see what i want on the scale don't let it pull me down.-this is i did, i honestly knew i was doing what i needed to do (except for exercise) and wasn't worried what the scale said

3. Try a new food.-does it count when i go grocery shopping and make a sandwich from a bun i just bought, get to work to eat it and it's all mould on the bottom! Great appetite surpressant.

4. Realize that having a healthy lifestyle is an hour by hour/day by day thing. Just do my best :)- It's a slow process but i am getting better at it :)

5. Enjoy time with the hubs.-this i have been doing!

My motivation is severely lacking!


Yep for some reason i just don't seem to have much energy to work out this week. Oh well maybe the old body needs a rest :)

Foodwise is going great, mainly clean foods lots of fruits and veggies and not too much red meat! Although i do think we're having steak on Monday!

Busy at work as usual.
