Waffle maker/recipe review!
Wow i never thought doing a review would take this long! I love my new waffle maker that was given to me by CSN stores. It's a Chef's Choice heart shaped one, what's not to love :) The customer service at the CSN stores is above par. I've found them to be very helpful. Also the shipping is quick and efficient!!
The most difficult thing i've found is find a really good waffle recipe. I've tried 4 or 5 now and two i think were the best. One of them is a crispy cornmeal one which i liked but it's a little high in calories and fat and although i like cornmeal i'm not too fussy about them in my waffles.
The one thing i've found that i really like is taking the egg whites and beating them until they form stiffened peaks and folding them into the rest of the waffle mix. Seems to give them extra lightness and stretches the recipe.
The only other thing that took me a while to figure out is the fact that the waffle maker has two different settings you can program. One is for crispy outside and moist in the middle or uniform texture. I think i've got it where i like it but it did take a bit of experimenting :) One weird thing i've found is that the first waffle never comes out great, but if you ignore it and keep making them the next one is just fine.
Here's the recipe that i've enjoyed so far (i have a whole wheat one to try soon) Sorry i can't remember who sent this to me but thank you! Natasha sent me the recipe, thank you
1.5c all-purpose flour (can subsitute with quinoa flour, whole wheat or coconut flour)
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2tsp salt
3 large eggs separated
1 tbsp sugar
1 3/4c low fat buttermilk (since i don't use this i just took some lemon juice and put it in the milk)
1 tbsp unsalted butter melted (i don't have butter so i just used olive oil)
Combine everything but the egg whites.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and gently fold into the other mixture.
Spray waffle maker with non-stick and pour approximately 1/4c of mix for one waffle.
Makes 12 waffles.

Thanks for the review. Do you know I've never made fresh waffles? I sure would if I had a waffle iron. Great idea to add egg whites to the recipe...not only makes them lighter and stretches the amount, but also adds a good of protein!
What a cute waffle maker ! I have one but it is just a boring round one. Sadly, I rarely ever make or eat waffles anymore so it would just gather dust her I fear
Let's make some with CarbKwik and eat them up all day!
The waffles look tasty! Thanks for the recipe.
Those are so pretty!
Ooh - so pretty! I still need to make the pancake recipe, too.
