1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
I always check calories first, then sometimes I do a fat check too if I know the fat is questionable in that type of food.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
this is key to me. Always go for more and better! I don't really walk per se, I go as fast as I can and i have developed a couple of different strides that work my legs in different spots.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
at least 50 pounds so far. I weigh in this Friday and find out how much more I have lost!!!
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Knock wood, I rarely get sick, so I don't really do anything different. I just be sure to hydrate.
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
I am not really struggling any more, but at first, it was watching everyone else eat like they always have and then me having to eat differently. Now, my differently is my normal and I often see people a little jealous that I am eating better and they are not!
1. Yes, and it is the calories
2. Neither- I just do it
3. 45 lbs
4. herbal tea
5. baking bread and making soup !!!!
I have wanted to answer your questions for the longest time and tend to be too busy and forget!
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
Yes. Calories are always first. After that, mainly fat and salt.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
I try to add things, but not every time. Mainly, it's as much as I can do at any given time. If it is less one day and more another, that's all good. Generally though, I think it's important to strike a balance such that you're varying things, but not spending too much time on exercise. I've been down that road before, and I don't want to go back.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
I track very occasionally, but I've lost about 150 lbs. so far.
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Homemade tomato soup, hot tea, and hot and cold lemon water.
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
Preparing so much food all of the time and making certain the right things are always on hand.
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
I always check...calories first, fiber second
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
I'm finding that I like to improve every time
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
I keep track and so far it's 46 lbs
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Hot chicken soup
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
For me it's still being around lots of food and controlling myself enough to make healthy choices...working on that, though!
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
I do check and look for salt, followed by fat content.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
I strive to improve.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
Thirty-one pounds
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Tea
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
Life gets in the way as I don't, yet, have my new habits ingrained.
Great questions! Here I go:
1. I check the fat and calories as first and second
2. I do like to do more and more, sometimes pushing myself too far too fast
3. 20 pounds as of today and yes I check, I have to
4. Tea or chicken soup
5. At the moment it is almost an obsession but I know this will change as the behaviours set change
Okay here goes..
1. I ALWAYS check the nutrition facts before anything goes in my mouth/the shopping cart. I look at my cals, fat, and fiber for my WW points, and then I check the sodium (too much sodium = water retention).
2. Yes, I try to walk further, squat deeper, etc...
3. I have lost a little over 8 pounds in four weeks. Tomorrow I weigh in for week 5...we shall see how that goes.
4. Fried rice from the Chinese place (I know it's terrible, but this has been my comfort food when I'm sick for the past 24 years!)
5. I do okay when I'm by myself or when I eat at home, but when I have group lunches (for work, etc) or when I hang out with friends it's really hard. I just want to be lazy and eat/drink what they are all having.
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
Always. Cals, fat, fiber, protein...In that order, lol.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
I try to do at least the amount I did before, if not more.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
125 lbs...I'd like to drop 30 more, though.
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Ginger green tea with honey.
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
Temptations...easy access to unhealthy foods...or sometimes just trying to "motivate" myself.
1. Just the calories for me.
2. I like to push myself a little further with each workout.
3. I've lost 47 lbs to date and feel great! :)
4. I always make a giant pot of congee (rice soup) with extra onions and ginger when I'm sick. Just like my momma used to make for me.
5. The constant vigilance. This thing is a never ending battle. It's exhausting emotionally.
1. I used to check mainly calories but now I routinely buy the same things.
2. I always do the same thing every day. But I increase the intensity by lifting my legs higher if I am kickboxing etc.
3. Lost 29lbs so far.
4. NeoCitron. BEST EVERRRR
5. My sense of taste and smell. and convenience. Crappy food is just quicker sometimes.
1. Check the info? When I can - often hard to pick out in teeny-tiny Russian!
2. Exercise? I'm crazy when I get rolling...I am constantly challenging myself (to the point where I irritate even myself)
3. Weight loss? I have lost about 50 pounds.
4. Drink when under the weather?Tea, tea, tea! (In fact I feel okay right now, but guess what I'm drinking?)
5. The hardest part of trying to live healthier? Not using food as a drug.
Happy Wednesday!! So glad I was able to participate in Question Day today.
1. Calories and then fat
2. When limited in what I can do right now, I must rely on reps.
3. Well, lately I've put back on some of my previous losses, so I'm at about 10# gone...for the time being.
4. Green tea
5. Making sure to read labels, and staying on the perimeter of the grocery store to assist in making the best choices possible.
1. I always check it. I look at calories first, then fat and sugar.
2. I try to vary the exercises I do and use proper form and push myself hard so I am constantly challenging myself.
3. I started 9 days ago and have lost 7lbs.
4. I always try to get fresh air and lots of water but I never crave certain foods. I tend to swerve toward crackers and ginger ale when I think about it though.
5. The most challenging part of living a healthy lifestyle is having the people around me not trying to do the same. Nobody I know tries to workout daily, eat a set amount of calories or avoid certain foods (high fat, high cal, high sugar, etc) I hope I will inspire some of them or make new friends who share my new lifestyle.
1 calories and fat

i guess you call it
sometimes ya just feel like being fat lol
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages?? If so what's the first thing you look for calories, fat, fibre, cholesterol??
Calories, then fibre, fat % and saturated fat %.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
The plans i follow, like C25K and 100 press-ups, already incorporate changes in time/quantity each week/day. In terms of the other stuff, like weights, i always try to change it up every 4 to 6 weeks.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
35 lbs.
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
A hot toddy.
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
Staying strong when having a bad day. Healthy eating still isn't the norm yet, it's something i have to be conscious of and be vigilant in the choices i make. Food is still my "go-to-guy" when the doody hits the fan, but these days i am able to talk myself down.
1. Do you check the nutritional information on packages??
Always. I also check for trans fats or hydrogenated foods. I'm doing less of that now as most of what I eat is not processed.
2. When you exercise do you try to improve the step/reps all the time or do you do the same thing most of the time??
I try to improve but slowly. I love power walking and running but I'm definitely a beginner.
3. How much weight have you lost so far?? Or do you keep track of your weight??
11 lbs in 12 weeks. I've got 30 or so to go.
4. When you have a cold/not feeling well what is the one food or drink that you enjoy?
Mint tea with raw honey and lemon. Soups!
5. What do you find the hardest part of trying to live healthier is??
I skipped the last question!
The hardest part is definitely the social aspect. I've become sort of secluded so as to focus on my health and well being. Most of my friends have a lifestyle including too much alcohol which I cut drastically out of my life.
