Weekly goal update

This had been a very hard week for me. I'm going to need to  find some inner strength this week!!

1. Try to get more walks outside!-No i didn't

2. Try yoga at the YMCA this week-Ended up not going this week

3. Keep up with doing the weights-I actually did do this :)

4. Tidy my computer desk-I did this as well

5. Plan some more menus ahead of time as this saves me time and money!-Unfortunately i didn't do this either!

This week i really I really need to get back to basics!!

1. Make sure i drink my water

2. Monday i'm going to do a body sculpting class at the Y and Tuesday is going to be Zumba and yoga

3. Plan my eats for the week, if i fail to plan i plan to fail!!

4. Drink green tea

5. Get out for some walks!!

Freebies and rambles...

First of all i won one of the progresso soup give aways from Shelley :) Which included a soup mug and a skipping rope that counts.

Oh i also won some Annie's organic fruit snacks from Danika! They're in the mail and i can't wait to try them.

I also have to say, and no i didn't receive anymore freebies from them, that i love Greenworks! Their laundry detergent is great and that's not just coming from me but also friends that i gave the free coupons to :) I've also been using their all purpose spray cleaner and their all purpose concentrated cleaner. I love that it doesn't have fumes that almost knock me out when using it. Believe you me i've used some that i've had to stop using because they were so toxic.

I've been cleaning since 9 a.m, hubs says i must have eaten the energizer bunny :)
My hubby who happens to love all things electronic has wire exposed all over the living room, not only did i manage to hide them but i pulled everything out and vacuumed.
I totally cleaned out the front all closet (and no Jen your skates were not in there)
I dusted and polished everything in the livingroom
I vacuumed the rest of the living room
I threw out a lot of stuff
Things that were stored under the end tables has been dealt with
The only thing i didn't do was clean out the drawers of the end tables!
Hubby said i was making him tired just watching me :)

Did i say we have a new couch coming?? That's why i wanted the living room to look good

Tomorrow?? The bedroom, or at least a start to the bedroom before i go to work.

Yet another busy day and choices!

My day was going to start by catching the 8:30 A.M bus to get to the YMCA so that i could take another Zumba class, followed by a yoga class. However, yesterday i left the house at 9:30 AM and i didn't get home until 8pm. I was totally drained, so i felt it would be better for me to get some extra sleep and catch up around the house!

I did go to two meeting tonight! The board meeting always has dinner and tonight they had a choice of meat lasagna or veggie lasagna, a cesear salad with dressing on the side and homemade butter tarts.
So what did i have?? Well i chose the veggie lasagna and there didn't seem to be much cheese on it :) i also took lots of salad and instead of pouring the salad directly on i dipped my fork in the dressing as i ate the salad. So i would be lucky if i even had a tbsp! As for the butter tart? I had one. I intentionally thought about it and decided that if i only had one i would be alright with that decision. No guilt, even though i went over my calories but 195 tomorrow is another day :)

Tomorrow i'm off to Michaels craft shop and then it's the YMCA!

Busy, busy Monday!

Well today starts with me going to two meetings back to back. After the meetings i get to run to the bus in order to get downtown to meet the hubs before we go to the YMCA for a workout :)

Now this is where is gets better after the gym the hubs and i are going to WalMart and then we're going out for dinner at a chinese all you can eat buffet!! And yes i've planned in advance what i'm going to eat :)

Thankfully, this is one of those weeks when i feel i've totally got my mojo going on. And even going out to dinner 2 nights in a row will not stop me.

Wait did i say 2 days in a row?? Yep, tomorrow is a board of directors meeting with dinner provided! Well i hope they at least have something half healthy!!

Weekly goal update...

Today i'm doing some yoga, because tomorrow it's back to the gym :)

Last weeks goals:

1. Keep drinking my water, don't slack off-I managed to get at least 8 cups a day!

2. Go to the YMCA 3x this week-I did

3. Get some more pushups, squats and ab work in :)-Nope, but i did get some major weights in :)

4. Eat my food slowly, i'm really good and just shoving it in!-Getting better at it but it's definitely not a habit yet.

5. Make sure to fit my walks in-Unfortunately i only got one walk in this week i mean outside, i did get a few more in on the treadmill :)

Things i have chosen this week...

1. I chose to go to a Zumba class even though i've never tried it before :)

2. I chose to only have one glass of wine!

3. I chose to try new machines at the gym and even though i definitely felt it the next day i really enjoyed them.

4. I chose to drink at least 8 cups of water every day.

5. I chose to use my slow cooker 3 days this week because it left me time to do other things besides slave over the stove.

6. I chose to treat myself to a new bright pink gym bag, lunch bag and workout top!

7. I chose to do some yoga at home this week.

8. When i woke up this week i chose to believe i was going to have a great day, no matter what!!

I am stronger than i thought :)

Today i went off to the YMCA again.  Our trainer was showing us some the weight machines in the gym.

For each machine she showed us, she had all of us take turns using it so she could critique our form :)

Well in my group there were 5 guys and myself!! And right now the guys must be thinking "i hope she doesn't come next week" because except for my husband i lifted more weight than all the other guys!!

Even the trainer said that for a female just starting at the gym i was lifting some great weights :) That made my day and i've been smiling since!!

Now it's time to relax and enjoy my last night off this week.

So i woke up at the crack on dawn (remember i work afternoon shift so i'm usually still asleep) to meet a friend to go to Zumba with :) Never mind that i could really feel my triceps this morning and not in a warm fuzzy way!

How was it?? First i have to say that the YMCA has so many great workers there and they go out of their way to make you comfortable!! Thankfully today's class was a beginners (they must have seen me coming), but it was so much fun and an incredible workout. I know i wouldn't have been able to do the regular class.

After Zumba i rushed home to eat my lunch and then off to clean a friends house in the afternoon! I definitely burned some major calories today!!

Once again tonight will find me with my feet up and a glass of wine in hand :)

On my day off.....

First of all i spent the morning stuffing envelopes! I'm helping to organize a February valentines bingo and so we needed to stuff all the invitations :) all 400+ of them! Which is why i ate a hearty brekkie:

Now water and pop are provided along with pizza. No problem i drink their water and take my own cheese, veggies and yogurt :)

And i made sure before i left to get a good green smoothie with protein in me so i could go like the energizer bunny all day.

After stuffing envelopes i hopped on a bus to meet the Hubs at the YMCA for an awesome workout!! Definitely got my sweat on :) Who knew my face could get so red??

Luckily i threw a roast into the crock pot this morning and voila dinner is ready.

Now i'm going to put my feet up and enjoy a movie with hubby. Hope you are having a great day!

A really cute package from Get Cracking :) They send a couple of sweet recipes, an egg bookmark, and a package with seasonings for deviled eggs!!

My book now has a dandy book mark :)

Today i'm going out for a walk and would like to do some weights for the arms. I need these desperately before summer.

Today's plan...

First off i woke up this morning with a huge bruise on my hand!! I was looking in boxes last night and must have bumped it. Blood thinners suck some times.

So i need to get the hubs and my lunches and dinners ready (mine to take to work). I need to cut his hair after lunch. Then it's yoga and finally hit the shower before work!!

Watched a video that made sense about protein and fibre: Enjoy!

A review of Natures Path cereals

Just before Christmas i was luck to receive some products to try/review from the great folks at Natures path organic cereals!!  I love that there's no artificial preservatives in their cereals.

I am so sorry that it's taken me so long to get around to this review. I've been so busy and actually had other cereals to use up first :)

First i tried the Flax plus maple pecan crunch. It's made with organic flax seed, organic pecans, organic maple syrup and organic oats!!! One word:  Yummmmmmmmmy :) Absolutely awesome cereal. Now while it is a little high in calories (220/3/4c) it is whole grain and high fibre.  I loved using it on yogurt and even eating by itself.

Next i tried their Optimum slim.  It's packed with high fibre (9g), low fat (2g), and protein (9g) It's funny because i thought this would be a rather blah cereal. I really enjoyed it but what i did love was that when i ate it i wasn't hungry for ages after :) Now that's a good cereal in my books!!

Now i did tell them that i never eat instant oats, only the quick cooking oats but they sent me a variety pack of different flavours including apple/cinnamon, flax plus, maple nut, multigrain raisin to be truthful they tasted pretty good but for the amount you got for the calories i'd rather make my own :)  But if you like instant oatmeal these would be great ones to try!!

I love what it said on the oatmeal box: humans and plants have much in common. Both enjoy sunlight, music and tender loving care :)

If you love healthy grains and reading ingredient lists you'll love this cereal!!

Natures path did send me free samples of these cereals but no money was exchanged.

So how was the Y????

Today they were showing us the cardio equipment :) I love those things!! So i ended up finding out how to program the elliptical and the treadmill, and the bike (which i don't like)

So i'm getting my sweat on and the class is over, so the hubs and i decided to stay another 1/2 hour to keep getting our sweat on and giving me some times on the machines. O.k i was working out pretty good, in fact i was getting sweat on all the machines!! (and yes i sanitized them and wiped them) I swear that's the first time i've ever had butt sweat :) O.k tmi!!

Oh and one of the women that runs our group is going to zumba next week, really early, and guess who volunteered to go with her? Yeppers, me. At least it's a beginners zumba, could have had a tragic ending if it wasn't!!

So what we will be doing each week:

I just had this for lunch, it took maybe 10 minutes to make!! And i ate it with chopsticks :)

To start off i had a fun breakfast :) Chocolate oatmeal pancakes!

Then i went out on an hours walk.

Some of the choices i made today!

First i woke up early because i knew i had meetings and i wanted time to eat a healthy breakfast!

I went to my meetings (which were back to back) and i carried my lunch with me that i had prepared in advance so that i could eat well and not get too hungry.

I carried my water bottle everywhere with me today so that i could keep up with my water consumption. I also had planned snacks with me to much throughout the day.

I could have gone home and sat at the computer for a couple of hours after the meetings,  instead i took 2 buses to the YMCA and 2 buses home.

While at the Y i used machines that i had not tried before and loved them. I also went on the elliptical machine and stayed on longer than i had last week. To top it off i walked my butt off on the treadmill!!

Since i know i should eat something after exercising i had packed some healthy brownie muffins for the hubs and myself and to go with it i got some herbal tea.

Then it was finally time to go home but first we stopped and rented a movie, and then we went to the grocery store to pick up some healthy foods that i knew i had either run out of or was close to running out of.

Finally home to eat a healthy fish and veggie dinner. Of course after that i sat down with a well deserved glass of wine!!

All in all a great day with lots of healthy choices and i'm proud of each and everyone of them today.

   Go to the Ymca on Wednesday (first day of my free 3 month pass)-that i did :)
   Go for more walks-not as much as i would like but i'm going to get more in this week
   Lift some weights-no but i'm doing some at the YMCA on Monday
   Do some yoga-I did some at home and love it but i would still like to do more

3. Stay away from sugar-For the most part i have stayed away from it

4. Get back into organizing the house-Ummmmmm not so much

5. Chillax and enjoy :) probably the most important of all!!

Back to work!!

Yep it's going to be a busy day in donut land tonight :) They are having a special buy any beverage and get any donut for .49!  And i will have to argue with people that yes you do have to have a beverage at the same time, and no the coffee you had three hours ago doesn't count!!

So i've been trying to figure out the best way for me to workout at the gym. I think i'm going to do a circuit on the machines and then go on either the elliptical or the treadmill or both since i can't stay on the elliptical too long without thinking i'm going to die :)

As far as my eating goes i've decided to break up my meals into two and eat every 21/2-3 hours! Since i've been really snacky lately.

However, i'm finding the sitting at the table with no distractions is working. I've been eating slower and filling up quicker. It is really hard sometimes but i really think it is worth it.

I also really need to get back into my walks outside. I really do enjoy them, but sometimes when it's as cold as it has been this week i make all kinds of excuses not to.

Sorry i've been missing

It's been a pretty busy week!! So i'm sorry if i haven't posted as much as i usually do :(

Today was my first day at the YMCA and i really enjoyed it. I went on an elliptical machine i think for the second time in my life. Wow it sure does kick butt :) Then i hopped on the treadmill and worked up a massive sweat. The fun is that i joined with a group so they have a plan to do different things each week including volleyball, floor hockey, zumba, spinning, basketball, raquet ball, squash, aerobics etc... Wow i'm tired just thinking about it!!

I have a question for anyone who goes to a gym. Do you go with a plan of what machines you will use?? Care to share with a newbie?

A ta-da moment!!

I was on my way to a craft afternoon that i'm helping to organize. I'm walking down the street thinking i really should have stayed home to tidy up the house, heck i could even have used a nap :) It's cold, i'm tired and i really don't want to do this!!!! But i promised someone that i would, so i did.

Now that got me thinking..... how come when i promise someone i will help them i do it no matter what excuses may pop up. However, when it comes to making time for exercise, drinking my water, or picking something healthy over something not as healthy i have every excuse in the book and i use them!!! Why when i promise myself to do something don't i just do it, like i would for someone else.

So all afternoon i've been mulling this over in my head!! I lose a couple of pounds, i gain a couple of pounds, why????? I don't keep promises that i make to myself. Well that has to change, here and now.

I promise myself that i will exercise at least 3 times a week.

I promise myself that i will drink at least 8 cups of water a day!!

I promise that i will choose healthy food over unhealthy food.

Finally back to normal :)

I enjoyed the holidays but i love getting back to my normal routine!!

First thing this morning was a meeting that i took a bus to. Now normally i go a little way on the bus, hop off and walk the rest of the way. Well i hopped off the bus walked for around 15 minutes when the windchill was -20C or -4F and i felt like a popsicle. So i quickly  hopped on another bus for the rest of the way :)

During the meeting i ate a quick lunch because afterwards i met my walking group!! Yeah, so much fun when you walk with other people.

So now i'm home and ready to get dinner ready (and stand in front of the oven absorbing as much heat as possible).

Tomorrow i'm off to a craft afternoon and hopefully i can walk to it without dying of hypothermia!!
