Not older but better :)


Yes i actually turned 49 today! So close to the big 50

This year for my birthday i got Fred (the bike), an awesome Sony wireless mp3 which is the best one i've had yet, dinner out and more than the usual wine :)

In other words a great birthday. I'm actually more comfortable with myself at this age than ever before. I have a great family that couldn't be better if they tried.  They make me who i am today!

So what else have i planned for today?? Going to work believe it or not i forgot to ask for it off. Oh well.

Today's plan...


This morning i was going to go on a walk but it was pouring with rain :( So instead i went grocery shopping!
Managed to get some good deals on bob's red mill cereals.

Since i'm at a board meeting tonight where they'll serve dinner i've had a light breakfast and lunch leaving myself a few more points in case i need them because i never know what they'll serve.

Oh and between all this i cleaned the kitchen :) Fun, fun, fun!

Today's plan...

This morning i'm catching up on reading other blogs, cleaning the house and then going on a walk before the rain gets here :)

After lunch it's off for a meeting at work to learn all the new things they want me to do in addition to what i'm already doing :) (very sarcastic smile)

And the highlight of my day is hopping on my bike and going to the library with the hubs! I need some fresh reading material. And the extra bit of exercise won't hurt either.

The last picture is actual a fungus (mushroom) growing on the tree and it seemed to be pointing the way :)

Weekly goal update


Last weeks goals:
1. Get out on bike rides at least 3 times this week-I could blame getting sick but i could have squeezed more in! I did managed to get one good ride in this week.
2. Add a little speed to my walks-Did my walks but didn't work on speed
3. Go to my favorite park this week-I did and i absolutely loved walking there and taking some good pictures :)
4. Stop at my favorite health food store and pick up some more bread-I did and i managed to pick up some cocoa nibs as well!
5. Try one new food-this weeks new food was Quork or fresh cheese, which has the same consistency as greek yogurt!


This weeks goals:
1. Get some more bike rides in before it gets really cold!
2. Work on my speed walking this week
3. Do some push ups 3x this week
4. Try another new to me food this week
5. Enjoy my dinner out with the hubs for both of our birthdays which are this week :) And don't stress about getting older!

Home sick!


I made myself go to work yesterday because i knew how hard it would be to get someone to cover for me last minute. But today i was smart and stayed home.
When i swallow it feels like i'm swallowing marbles :( And i don't think i've ever slept as much as i did last night and the night before.
So today i'm just taking it easy. Back to regular blogging soon!

Could today be any better??

Today Ralph and i are off to Waterloo! Going to visit my favorite health food store, my favorite park and my favorite coffee shop, and my daughter!! Can my day be any better?? Well besides sharing it with my favorite guy!

Before i went though i had to fuel up for energy: whole wheat tortilla, homemade nutella, sf strawberry jam, banana, raspberries, 1c reduced sugar orange juice and1/2 scoop whey protein isolate.

Totally off topic but yesterday i found a new product: Liberte quork! It's fresh cheese which tastes like greek yogurt. The nutritional info on it is awesome. And it has no salt.

100g of quork
60 calories
.3g fat
11 grams of protein!

First i visited my favorite health food store to pick up some more awesome bread, and some cocao nibs.

















Then i bought myself a new french press since i broke my last one. And off course that meant i had to pick up some fresh coffee :)

Stopped at Starbucks to pick up some peeled fruit which has had good reviews.

And finally some quiet time at the park.

Since it was such a beautiful warm day we decided to have a cold brewskie in a British pub before we went home. Oh and did i say we had rainbow trout ready to go on the bbq for dinner??

I went on a ride


I really wanted to get to the Bulk Barn before the weather turns really cold. I'm such a wuss :)

So being that it's a beautiful day and Fred (the bike) was more than willing off we went. Well o.k i had to have breakfast first. Protein pancakes, banana and sugar free syrup kept me going all morning. Thanks Lori.

So what did i score at the bulk barn??

Couldn't find the peanut flour but i'll look in my favorite health food store tomorrow.

Came home with the goodies and immediately went out again on a quest to find non-slip shoes for work. Boy are they expensive but they usually last me a couple of years.

Today i biked for over an hour and a half and that my friends is a new record for me :)

Didn't do too bad!


Well i had lots of opportunity tonight to go way off plan.

The first thing we see when we arrived were bowls and bowls of chips, tortilla chips, a cheese/ham spread, cheetohs, wine, beer, rum, vodka, gin etc.........

Then came the Chinese food. Wowsa's

And last but not least was the strawberry shortcake!! Made in an Italian bakery.

So i turned down all the chips, nuts and bolts etc. I had one glass of wine, i had approximately 1/3c rice, lots of broccoli and carrots, some delicious veggies with almonds and two very small pieces of lemon chicken.
And yes i had a very thin sliver of cake. I ate lightly during day and have absolutely no guilt tonight. I feel satisfied and definitely no where near stuffed.

Took a couple of photo's since my hair is longer than it used to be :)

Todays walk!

A beautiful day here! So i figured i'd take advantage of it and get out for a walk.
