A walk between rain drops and a challenge??

I'm thinking about starting a weekly challenge. Different challenges each week. Could be getting fruit in daily, exercising x amount that week, drinking water etc, not eating after dinner etc..

If you have any suggestions for the challenge please let me know.

It could be just challenges for me if no one else wants to join or it could become a weekly challenge for those who wish to join me.

I'll make the challenges on Sunday and ask for the results by Saturday night so i can post them on Sunday. Does that make sense?? Everyone's welcome to join me.

Some will be more challenging than others but none so hard that you can't join in!

Let me know if you'd like to do this with me :)

Anyway today i decided i had to get out and get some exercise in. The problem?? We're supposed to get a lot of rain! update: managed to get out and do my walk without getting wet :)

Now i'm off to a big mall to check out prices for Christmas presents

Today was an incredibly fun day!

Started by getting up early and having blueberry protein pancakes, and then running for bus!

Stuffed envelopes for over 400 people and then volunteered at a Christmas bingo :) Lots of fun and i didn't even have the pizza or cupcakes. They were cute though.

I woke up to a freezing cold house and there's snow on the ground!!

I need to remember what i usually wear when i go into the woods in the winter :) I wore a hat but forgot to put my hood back on my coat. I forgot to take my sunglasses which keeps the snow flakes from sticking to my eyelashes. So today i had icicles on my eyelashes!! One good thing was that i tried out my new hiking boots and they are very comfortable and keep my tootsies warm.

One thing i really enjoyed today was my new Sony wireless mp3, it's really nice to not to have to worry where to put the mp3 as it's part of the ear buds! And once you put it on it doesn't move no matter what your doing :)

Guess i went out at the right time because i just looked out the window and you can hardly see across the street because of all the snow coming down.

So now i'm going to sip my mulled apple tea with a cinnamon stick and some cloves in it and relax until lunch time and then i'll get ready to go to work. Have a great day!

Nothing new here....

Sorry for the lack of posting, nothing much to post about! I think one of my new years resolutions is going to be to post 365 days next year!!

This week has been all about cleaning the house and getting ready for volunteering.

Today i went to volunteer at a Christmas craft afternoon and had a blast. Managed to bring home a few  homemade Christmas ornaments :)

Now i'm getting ready for a Christmas bingo on Monday and i'll be there a few hours early to stuff envelopes to invite people for a games afternoon coming up.

Still walking, eating is so/so not bad but not particularly great, haven't planned my food which is not a good thing for me. Taking time off from blogging lately to plan my Christmas stuff.

I have a Christmas party coming up that i help to plan for over 250 people and that is definitely taking my time up. I've also volunteer, as i do every year, to make a huge amount of cranberry sauce. I also have a staff Christmas party coming up. Oh boy this time of year i have to admit is a little stressful! Good job i only have the hubs and my kids for family so that i don't have any additional stress from extended family.

The Holiday season is starting!

At work every year they have an artist come and decorate the windows at work! She puts all the employees names on different things. This year i'm a teddy bear :)

A light bulb moment!

This morning i had a hearty bowl of three grain porridge with blueberries and cranberries. Really enjoyed it and was filling.

Not an hour later i wanted the snack that i had planned for later in the day: Raisin bran muffin with apple butter.
So i had it.

I was reading through blogs and i wanted something else to eat. WHY??? I haven't had this craving for food for quite a while!!

As i sat that trying to figure out what was worth me eating and i realized that my problem was i had not had any protein!!! It's as simple as that.Well that and it's almost my TOM!

With that figured out i've decided my eating is done until lunch time :) Crisis averted!

I finally got my first good nights sleep since the time change!! Thank goodness :)

Then i hopped on Fred (the bike) and off to the Bulk Barn i went. Another of my favorite stores as they carry things that i can't find anywhere else.

What are these??
Kamut berries, barley and wheat berries :) I'm making a three grain porridge for tomorrow's brekkie. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm going to cook it in the slow cooker because i have no patience to stand and stir a pot for ages.

When i was riding the bike today my muscles were cramping really bad! I think i may give my legs a rest for a day or two. I may go for my walks but i don't think i'll try to run. Some weights may be lifted as well :)

Tried a new recipe today that was pretty good: Pumpkin scones with spicy drizzle! 3 pts if your doing weight watchers. I used whole wheat flour because that's all i use.

Oh and i made banana soft serve which is just frozen banana processed for a bit in the food processor then i sprinkled a few cocoa nibs on top :) Delish!

My latest addiction: Presidents choice mulled apple herbal tea with a cinnamon stick. It's an herbal tea which is awesome.

Another Monday!

Yesterday i went to work from 8-2 then i stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things after that i came home got changed and out the door for a 5K challenge issued by Kelly :) I was so tired before i left (i'd worked the afternoon shift saturday night) i didn't think i'd be able to do anything. But i surprised myself and got out and got it done!!

Today i woke up and made protein pancakes with apple and cranberries. Yummo :)

This afternoon we went to a big mall and walked around for an hour or so. I'm going to take that as my exercise for today to give my legs a break! Tomorrow i'm off on the bike to the bulk barn.

I'm feeling really positive this week. How's your week going??

Weekly update and weigh in!

I had a great week this week. I walked, i ran further than i have before and my food and water was spot on!

I've started tracking with weight watchers online here are the stats:

My daily points right now are 20 they just told me i'm down to 19 points a day!!
I have 35 flex pts i can use during the week
I earn activity points when i exercise :)

So my average points used daily this week: 5 days at 20 pts, 1 day at 19.5 and one day 22.5
I have 32.5 flex pts left over this week
I earned 23 activity points this week

I exercised 6 days this week!!

And i lost 5.2  lbs!! You can bet i'm happy with that :)

I know i've posted about choices before but i find lately that's what has been my focus.

Last night at work i found out they've got boxes of fudge back in! Really good fudge :) So i looked at the nutritional stats and they weren't that bad. Would cost me 3 pts per piece. Do-able, could fit that into one of my days. The problem for me is that i know if i have just one piece i'll end up eating the entire box, which will make me crave whatever sugar/carb thing i can find in the cupboards. So i made the choice to not have one single piece this year.

When i was on my way home last night my legs were feeling like limp noodles! I'd gone for a walk/run, gone for groceries all before i went to work and spent 8 hours on my feet. So last night i decided that today would be a day of rest for my legs because today i work the afternoon shift and then i have to turn around and start at 8 am on Sunday morning :( I'm going to be tired! I know i made a good choice.
update: hubs just got up and asked me if i wanted to go  on a walk :) So i'm going on a walk!

This morning i made some scrambled egg substitute and laughing cow cheese and on the side i had two out of oven fresh bran muffins. When i sat down i devoured the egg and after i'd finished i slowly ate the bran muffins. Now that shows that my choices lately have been awesome because i crave the protein and not the carbs. And the fact that i'm genuinely enjoying my food and not feeling deprived is awesome.

To help me stay focused i re-joined weight watchers online last week. So far so good. Tomorrow is weigh in day and i'll post how it goes.

Another busy day!

Made sure i got up a little earlier this morning because i had lots to do before i go to work.

First Ralph and i went on a walk/jog for 35 minutes and at the end of it we stopped and picked up groceries :) It was so foggy this morning we could only see two light posts ahead of us. I kicked myself for not taking the camera!

Came home put the groceries away and put some apple and pear slices in the dehydrator.

Now i'm catching up on blogs and then it's lunchtime and time to get ready for work! Whew, i'm going to be tired by tonight.

Sunday i'll post a weekly update and it's going to be a good one :)

Another busy day!

Ralph and i went out on another hour long walk :)

Got home refueled and then we were off on the bikes to the library and to the mall. Ah the library is one of my all time favorite places to go.

Guess what they're making here?? A skating rink!

Exercise?? Oh yes i did!

Today i got up early again!! Since the time change last weekend i'm getting up way too early :( So i decided to be productive. But first i had a ww tortilla, banana, peanut butter, sugar free jam and a grapefruit.

After that i rolled up my sleeve and got some much needed cleaning done.

Got ready to go on my walk and Ralph decided he'd go with me :) Walking is not usually his 'thing' but today was a beautiful day so off we went for an  hour.

When we got home i made pita pizza's and mango protein smoothie (diced mango, almond breeze, quark(or plain yogurt) and whey protein powder. All made smooth with my immersion blender.

That was just the fuel i needed to get out on Fred for an hour and 20 minutes! Loved every minute of it. Oh and i also dried some pineapple, apple and kiwi. Right now i have cranberries and raspberries in the dehydrator :)

Today's plan!

First i had some protein pancakes with banana/raspberries and cocoa nibs to start my day off right!

Then i was off to catch a bus to a meeting. Got off the bus early to get some extra walking in. Also took some healthy food with me for lunch.

Ralph and i were going to go on a bike ride but with it getting dark earlier and me not getting home early we decided we're going to go on a ride tomorrow :)

My dehydrator came today! Lots of experimenting to do. Hope you had a great healthy day today.

Finished work :)

For the last few days i've not felt well. Today i'm beginning to feel like myself again :)

I surprised myself after work today. First it was really busy and i was doing a lot of running around! Got home had a coffee (don't drink any at work :) and off i went for a walk. When i got to the part i usually run i decided, why not?? Thinking that i probably would do much better than a couple of seconds i surprised myself with running as far as i did before i was sick.

On my way home a neighbour stopped me to tell me i'm amazing with how often i get out to exercise and how awesome i'm looking! Wowsa's i didn't see that coming :)

So now i'm trying to warm up and then i'm cooking some salmon. Hope you had a great day full of healthy decisions!!
