This weeks challenge!

This weeks challenge is to use the smallest plate/bowl/dish for your meals so that it looks like your eating more than you are :) Does anyone already do this?? Does it work for you??

Are you with me in this challenge?

  1. I've been using smaller plates for years. It definitely looks like you're eating more than if you were to put your food on larger plates.
Does it work? Well, I'm still fat! But maybe I'd be even fatter had I not been doing this. :D
I rarely use the larger plates these days. They look like serving platters to me.

  2. I started doing this a couple years ago. I have my eldest doing this as well. Yes, it works.

  3. I am IN ! I actually used a smaller plate this morning for breakfast (before I read this)...

Great minds think alike ; )

  4. I'm in. I always use a salad plate or a small bowl for my meals. It is a gastric bypass thing.

  5. I'm totally on board with this. I try to do this often but I only remember half the time. Our smallest plates are only five inches across because they double as tea saucers but since we have bowls about the same size, this will be perfect.

I have to just mention though, that a bowl full of mac & cheese in that tiny bowl is still just 1 serving, and still loaded with fat and carbs. And one can still put a 400 calorie muffin on a tiny plate... so we should be careful. hehe

  6. I threw out my large serving plates over a year ago! It sometimes works for me, like on the day to day schedule, but if I have something yummy, like Chinese food, WATCH out! That little plate is going to be filled a couple of times. But even then, you have to think you are saving calories! It is way better than taking two trips with the regular size dishes.

  7. I already do it and yes, it works great! I do use a large bowl for salads, though. ;-)

  8. This is a great challenge for me since I haven't done this yet. But like Red Hestia said, even if I do fill it again(I'm not saying I will, but I might), two small plates would be a lot less than if I used two big plates.

  9. It usually depends on the meals, but I like to use smaller plates a lot. Having just a small amount on a big plate does make you feel like you're missing out on something. Sometimes, if I have a big plate, I make sure half of it is veggies.

  10. Yep, always. I can't remember when I last used my large plates.

I even go to the extreme of eating out of a ramekin with a teaspoon sometimes. It must look incredibly strange, but I eat so slowly that I feel incredibly full from a normal sized portion! Not something I'd do with company, though ;)

  11. I already do this as well, and yes it has worked wonders! I actually bought "old" as in 1950's bowls and plates just so I could have more reasonable size dished for myself and now I am doing this for my husband as well.

  12. I'm in! I try to use the kids plates when I can. But I will do it every time this week. It does help. :)

  13. Yes, I am in. I am not consistent in my use of smaller plates so this will be a good reminder for me!
