Are you ready for a new challenge this week??
The challenge for this week is to plan your eating for this week!
This is probably old news for most of you but I thought this might be good information for a few of us! I know my eating is so much better when I plan it in advance.
I start my plan with a full sheet of paper and I make columns for 7-10 days depending on how much planning I want to do.
Next I check my planner to see what meetings I have for those days, what days I'm working etc. I then put that information on the days that they happen.
I don't plan for foods that I don't genuinely enjoy. Life's to short to eat bags of baby carrots if you don't like them. Plus it's easier to stay on plan when you enjoy your food. I make note of what fruits and veggies are in season and what happens to be on sale. I also go into my freezer to see how many muffins/buns/breads/bags of veggies etc I have.
First I fill in my breakfasts. If I know that day I'll be eating out or having a big dinner I purposely plan to have a light breakfast on those days.
Next I figure what days I need lunch to be portable for meetings etc.
Finally I like to make sure I have interesting/delicious dinners planned for when I'm at home (I work afternoon shift so quite often I'm not home for dinner).
If breakfast and lunch are carb heavy then I usually go without carbs at dinner.
I fill in the blank spaces for meals then because I'm counting weight watcher points I quickly add up each days points and if they're too low I might add some trail mix or maybe a glass of wine with the bbq :) If the days points are too high I figure out ways to bring it down.
This may seem like a lot of work but for me the benefits definitely outweigh the work. Plus I enjoy cooking and eating what I have planned. The hubby definitely loves it :)
So are you in the challenge this week??

I would LOVE to join in on this one !!! I do plan ahead however I need to do it more consistly and this challenge should help !!
I'm in! I usually do this daily (planning ahead the night before) but I think with this vegan thing (and the restriction of so many foods) it will be pretty easy to plan for the week.
I usually plan but only so far as "we will have these six dinners next week". I am going to plan better this week using your ideas. And, yes, let's eat things we enjoy for sure! Thanks. :)
I would like to join up with you on this one. I have been "lurking" in on the others, but I need this. And I need it in an organized way, as you have described looking at your calendar for meetings, working hours, special events, etc.
Great idea! I do this every week and I swear by it. I'm in for the challenge :)
Count me in on this one, lack of planning is a major fault of mine.
Maybe this will get me back into some sort of routine:)
I'm in! I've been trying to plan my meals so we can eat healthier and not have to figure out at the last minute what to eat since most times, that means something not so healthy.
I've only actually succeeded at this twice in the last month, so this is another challenge I need.
