Doing some errands today

It feels pretty empty here today without all my daughters things :(  Believe it or not Jen I miss your stuff!

Today I need to go to the Bulk Barn store, the library and the grocery store because tomorrow is Canada Day and everything will be closed!

I really felt like oats today so that is what I had: oats, blueberries, egg whites and coconut butter

Then I caught up with other blogs and emails :)

Before I knew it, it was time to eat again! Avocado, salad and dressing, chicken,  raspberries and a cup of almond breeze with protein I honestly wasn't very hungry so I ate the avocado, the raspberries, protein drink and a little of the chicken.

After all that fuel I was reading to hop on Fred! We cut through the woods and I saw butterfly's, dragonfly's and bunnies :) And I forgot to take my camera!
All I know is that tomorrow my butt is going to be mega sore.

Warmed up some chicken, green beans with olive oil and some swiss chalet dipping sauce. I only ended up using 1/2 the sauce.

Doing a lot of work today!


Today started with drinking 3 cups of water, a cup of coffee and scrambled eggs with smoky tempeh, cheese,blueberries and raspberries. That my friends is a great start to my day :)

Tonight my daughter her significant other and friends are coming by to pick up all her things that have been waiting for 3 years to be picked up! Jen and Martin bought a house this month and they've spent the last week or so painting. So today is moving in day. My job was to get everything ready for them to pick up. And then I got to sit and watch them take it all out :)

Since I knew I'd be busy tonight Ralph and I decided to go out for lunch and then just grab something light for dinner later. Sounded like a good plan to me :)
I chose a burger with english cheese and bacon and a side salad! My calories are actually really quite low today and i'm always low on fat so I feel really good about my choice.

Snack was a few lime n chili almonds

Later on I grabbed some broccoli and cauliflower and roasted them with a bit of leftover salmon from last night a cup of beef broth and a glass of wine

It's Wednesday so it must be question day :)

Back to the mall

I had to laugh yesterday I was at my pharmacy to pick up some meds and the pharmacist wanted to do a sit down to make sure of which meds I'm taking plus vitamins etc. to make sure that there's no conflict between meds. I did find out that I should be taking folic acid because of one the meds I take.
Anyway he asks to see my health card and I give it to him and he says "wow you look a lot healthier now" yep I officially love my pharmacist!!


A few days ago we were at the mall and I picked up some workout capri pants. They fit and looked really good. That is until I put them on and walked around a big and they kept sliding down, down and down until you were only looking at my undies :)
So I went back to exchange them for something that will stay where they're supposed to! Update they took them back but I couldn't find any others I liked. Will have to check out other stores.


First things first though I had to eat :) Omelet with chilli pepper jack cheese, some turkey bacon and a side of strawberries and coffee.

Instead of eating at the mall I made a chicken ceasar salad with some blueberries on the side

You know what I have been finding very helpful yesterday and today is the drinking of 3 cups of water before each meal and then I had another 3 cups in the evening. Really helped to keep me full. Honestly my appetite is much smaller today!

Tonight for dinner the hubs bbq'd some salmon. I had some green beans and cherry tomatoes with it and the hubs had rice and green beans.

I can't wait to get back to my 5Kin100days but I'm not pushing this ankle. I'm going to let it heal 100% before I try running on it again. Sometimes I can be a stubborn old fool but not this time :)

I'm still here!!


I should have know better than to try to do a challenge when I'm on holiday from work and it includes eating out a lot!

Also my ankle is acting up and I haven't been able to get my walking/running in and honestly it's really been bothering me. Just because I can't walk much seems to have set of a mindset that I can just eat as much as I want. Not a place I want to be.

This afternoon I did manage to do a 45 minute very slow walk but I knew that was more than enough for today!


I really do like weight watchers BUT I was really taking too much advantage of free fruits! It just isn't working for me right now.

So starting today I'm chugging down 3 cups of water before each meal. I'm choosing to eat healthy. I'm not going to worry about my ankle too much, it will heal when it's ready. I did see a Dr about it and it's just going to take time to heal. I'm going to enjoy my foods not just eat for the sake of eating.

Went to visit my daughter at the Thrive juice bar :) I ended up eating the big salad bowl with some smoky maple tempeh and a glass of water. Can't believe my daughter's working in a vegetarian/vegan juice bar/restaurant. You know how much I love my veggies and fruits!

Beef tenderloin, light caeser salad (no croutons), corn on the cob and a glass of red wine

I plan on having 3 more cups of water (in fact it's already half done) and a cup of green tea

Day 3

I had a fantastic day today! I didn't make all my daily goals but boy oh boy I did have fun :)

Started my day with some yoghurt, berries, flax seed, chia seed and granola. 

Then it was off to The Running Room in Waterloo. What a great store and the girl that served me sure knew her shoes :) She never lost patience with me trying on several different brands over and over :) In the end I bought some Nike Pegasus. I'll never get lost in the dark!

After the shoe store it was off to Vincenzo's a European grocery store where I can find things that I can't find any where else. Look what I found today. Not in the pic's fresh butter and spicy cheese.

By the time I finished shopping I was getting a little hungry. So off to Thrive Juice bar where my daughter works. They make some awesome vegan and vegetarian foods. They were so busy today!! And yes that's Jen hard at work.
Today I chose some dal soup and a kale mojito which is my favorite juice so far. Then again I say that every time I taste one :) Thank Jen for your great suggestions!!

Finally it was on the bus to go home. A long day. The hubs and I went to the all you can eat Chinese buffet tonight. I made pretty healthy choices but I have no idea how many calories I had today. But hey I don't think I'm worried about a virgin kale mojito or any of the choices I made today.

Day 2

Went for a physical at the Dr's today! Not my favourite thing to do for sure :) He did say that I'm very healthy.

The Dr also asked me to not take calcium because I already have stenosis (hardening/blockage) of my arteries and high blood pressure (which is fine as long as I take my meds) and they're now saying that people with heart disease who take large does of calcium have a higher risk of stroke!
I'm not a Dr and please consult your own Dr if you have questions.

Breakfast: (before the Dr's):
Egg substitute omelet, turkey bacon, whole wheat english muffin with no sugar jam

My appointment was for 11 am and Ralph's wasn't until 1:40 so I took a smoothie and a yogurt to hold me over. A cookie dough smoothie! I'm sorry I don't remember the name but someone on NutriMirror had this recipe. I have tweaked it a little :)
I used: 6oz almond breeze
           1 tsp vanilla extract
           1/4c oats
           1Tbsp cocoa
           1/2 Tbsp of agave
           1 frozen banana
           20g peanut flour (for protein)

Dinner was a bbq'd hamburger and some side veggies

2. Did I exercise today?= Between our appointments I walked up and down every aisle of a huge walmart without stopping for approx 40 minutes so yes :)
3. How many cups of water?=I've drank 6 cups so far and I should easily be able to get three more before bed
4. Did I journal my food?=yes
5. Did I have any issues today?=not really!

Tomorrow I'm spoiling myself, I'm going to a running store to be properly fitted for running shoes. I'm also stopping at one of my favourite European grocery stores to pick up a few things :) Oh and if I have the chance I'm picking up a new water bottle at Starbucks!

This challenge might get a big difficult in the next week or so, I'm on holiday and we do plan to eat out a few times. I'll try to make good choices and life goes on.

Day 1

First day of accountability on my 100 day challenge! And so far it's going great.

How much change can I make in 100 days? We'll just have to wait and see! But I see some good things happening in my future :)

Started Day 1 with a blueberry protein pancake with blueberry sauce!

Lunch was a salad with newman's light balsamic vinaigrette, beets, light goat cheese, 1/4c raspberries and some Parmesan garlic Triscuit thins.

Dinner was one of the hubs favorites: sausage and baked beans with baked oven fries.

Snack was a  creamsicle pop and a few natural almonds

Went on a walk/run for an hour! I may have walked/run a little faster than usual, the bugs were chasing me.

Altogether a fantastic start to my 100 day challenge!

A personal challenge starting tomorrow!


They were calling for thunderstorms last night so far no sign of them but it is humid today.

I made an egg sandwich, grapefruit and a cup of coffee on the side this morning. Just what I needed!

Tonight is the annual general meeting for the board that I'm a member of! A really nice dinner and some inspiring speakers. Just going to eat as healthy as I can and not worry about how many calories there are as I just wouldn't be able to guess anyway.

There are 100 days between tomorrow and my 50th birthday. I need to start getting serious about getting to my goal weight. So every day between now and then (as long as the comp is working) I'm going to keep myself accountable on this blog.

I'm going to answer 5 questions everyday starting tomorrow:

1. Did I keep my calories between 1200-1300? I'm only 5' 0" this is a good amount for me!
2. Did I exercise for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week? (some days will be no because they will be my rest days.
3. Did I drink at least 8 cups of water?
4. Did I journal my food?
5. What am I having a hard time with? Or am I having a hard time?

I'm doing this for me! Anyone who would like to set up their own challenge for the next 100 hundred days starting tomorrow is welcome. Maybe once a week I can update how I'm doing and invite you to share how your doing?? What do you think?

My walk.....


A beautiful day for an hour walk/run!

Dinner was breakfast tonight :) Eggs, turkey sausage, whole wheat english muffin and low sugar jam

Still here!

Computer's not fixed yet but it's usable until I can get it to the geek squad :)

Today's plan includes a lot of cleaning, boxing up the last few things of my daughter so that when the moving truck comes it's all ready for her and hopefully a really nice walk!

Started today off with a green theme: Green monster: almond breeze, baby spinach, frozen banana, 1T ground flaxseed and 1/2 a scoop of protein

Stopped cleaning for a bottle of cranberry juice :)

Lunch was a bowl of homemade chicken and dumplings soup and some mango with yoghurt and granola
