The big 50!

That's right I turned 50 today :)

I ended up choosing a Garmin heart rate monitor for my birthday and a foam roller. I see lots of pain in my future :) Just kidding, kind of, sort of...... I'll take a picture tomorrow!

So Ralph and I have birthdays within 5 days of each other so I decided rather than going out to eat I was going to make an awesome dinner!! Beef tenderloin, lobster tail with melted butter, baked fries, chocolate dipped strawberries and wine :) Absolutely fantastic!!

No rain :)

It was supposed to be raining here today but instead it's a wonderfully sunny day!!

I ended up doing another full body weight routine this morning. Followed by some cleaning and then off on a walk :) Which was amazing because I really didn't want to exercise today! I'd walked a lot yesterday and my legs were feeling it. But I dug down deep and Just Did It.

Look what came in the mail today. <3 I see new recipes soon :)

Before this week is over I'll be 50 :)

I started today by going to see my therapist! I wanted to ask her about the recovery time of the second surgery if I choose to have it. I found out that I wouldn't have to wear the same type of splint as the last surgery and I would probably end up wearing a finger splint at night which I do already. So I may go for the surgery but I'm going to weight till after Christmas.

Next on my list was to stop and see my daughter Jen.

I love the motto of the raw juice bar where she works Thrive!

Then it was off to meet up with my walking group! I ended up getting  60  minutes of leisure walking in today and 45 minutes of brisk walking :) Plus I did a full body weight routine. Roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And yes on Friday I turn 50! Actually I'm looking forward to it :)

I love autumn

Today I didn't have to work :)  I managed to sleep a little extra this morning and then I got up and made a coconut banana bread pudding/bake with coconut butter and a peach.

I've finally caught up with my blog reading and it was time to get my butt in gear! So off on a walk I went.

Absolutely, totally, wonderfully beautiful :)

Lunch today was a protein smoothie with some organic baked cheese snacks.

Dinner is going to be a quick throw together vegetarian chili, multi grain baguette and a salad with Asian red pepper dressing.

After dinner I'm going to enjoy a glass of wine and a movie!

I'm learning!

While I was cooking my breakfast today I looked at what I had planned to eat the rest of the day. This is when I normally take things out of the freezer. So today I was taking out a peach muffin to take to work later. Now what I usually do is look for the biggest one! More bang for the buck kind of thing. However, I stopped my hand before it started to look for the biggest on and just took the one on top :) I think my mind is finally smartening up!!

This morning I had some greek yogurt, banana, powdered peanut butter with some granola and some scrambled egg with light laughing cow cheese.

Even though I'm still sick and was up half the night coughing I did a total body weight workout (second one this week).

Lunch was a slice of whole wheat bread with roasted tomatoes and cheese, an orange and some chocolate fish :)

I packed the peach muffin, a peach, coconut water and a chocolate protein drink for work.

I actually have tomorrow off so this is my Friday!!

It's going to be a great day!

What I mean is that today I'm going to make it a great day!!

That's right I woke up determined that today I'd do the best I can. So I started with a pumpkin muffin with a peach on the side. Then I went to my exercise room and did 2 dvd workouts!! Boo-yah :)

I need to run to the store to pick up some things to eat at work tonight. I picked up some sushi and seaweed salad. I also grabbed some veggies because the only veggie in my fridge were cherry tomatoes.

Back to work

At least the cold isn't getting any worse :)

I'm so glad I've been able to do workouts that I couldn't do because of my hand. Today I did a total body workout with weights!

As far as food goes if you follow my other blog you know it's going great!  I find that I have to eat food that's visually appealing as well as tasting great.

Take today's breakfast: Egg McSuzi: a whole wheat English muffin, egg, Canadian bacon, light cheddar cheese and roasted tomatoes with a peach on the side!! Yummo

Visit with the plastic surgeon!

Had to wake up early today because I had an early appointment with the plastic surgeon that operated on my hand.

I knew I wouldn't have much time to eat breakfast so I made some baked mango blueberry oatmeal yesterday and I just had to reheat it today. I did put some sugar free syrup on top a peach on the side and a coffee  :)

I've been in a real baking mood this week! Pumpkin muffins, peach muffins, baked oatmeal with blueberries and mango, roasted tomatoes and I froze a pile of raspberries and peaches. I love when I get in the mood to bake like that.

Anyway the appointment went pretty well. He said I'd done an awesome job on the therapy. Both tendons that were severed are working independently however when I try to close my fist that finger doesn't bend to touch my palm :( He said it's because it takes 2 tendons to do that at the same time and the scar tissue between both is stopping it. I'm supposed to give it 2 or 3 months and see if it bothers me enough to want the surgery. The down side is that if I do get it done I will have to go through the same healing process and time as the original surgery and I just don't know whether I want to do that!!

O.k on a happier note I'm cleared to be able to lift weights but to start slowly and not to lift to heavy for the next 2 weeks. I also don't have to see him again unless I want the surgery. The other good news is that I only have physio for another 2 or 3 weeks :)

Before I left I did a stretching routine and I just finished doing some core work and weights! Next I'm going on a nice walk.

Oh yeah I'm back!!!!

O.k my bad luck is over, now!!

First I hurt my ankle and I'm beginning to think I may have a hairline fracture. I had one in the other foot and truly there's nothing you can do but wait until it heals  (which takes a long time). It still hurts at the end of an 8 hour shift. Makes it not so much fun for long walks or DVD workouts!!

Second I cut my finger very deep resulting in severing 2 tendons, a nerve and an artery! Still healing from that as well. The latest update is that they think I'll need to get some of my scar tissue removed :( Oh and I'm still exercising my finger every hour or at least every hour or so!!

Third I've caught some kind of bug. I have no voice and I really don't want to pass this on to anyone else.

These things have definitely put a crimp on my working out :(  But now I've had 3 things so life should be rosy for the rest of the year, right!

Today I was going to get out on a walk but it's pouring out so instead I'm going to do some yoga and a Richard Simmons DVD.

At least I've made really good choices as far as food goes. And I've been drinking lots of water as well.

Breakfast was some tomato/cheese/onion mini quiches with grapefruit and coffee :) Got me started on the right foot!! Funny no matter how sick I am I very rarely lose my appetite.

Home early :)

Up at the crack of dawn to go to work early.  They felt sorry for me being sick so they let me go home early :)

I made roasted tomatoes and mango butter, the house smells amazing! Yummo The tomatoes were just plum tomatoes sliced and then drizzled with olive oil, sea salt and fresh pepper.

Tomorrow I was supposed to have two meeting(one was making a telephone message for upcoming volunteer activities) and then my walking group but I'm going to cancel. For one I'm still without a voice and I don't want to give this to anyone else. So tomorrow I'm going to sleep in and go for a walk in the woods. That's my plan right now anyway :)

For dinner we had tenderloin steak, herb and garlic mashed potato, green beans and carrots.

Now I'm going to relax for the rest of the night!!

Saturday :)

I could not think of a title today :)

I still don't have much of a voice! But other than that I don't feel bad, keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't get worse.

Had to cancel my physio yesterday. It's at the hospital and they don't want people like me coming in with germs. Funny how I look forward to the therapy, the whirlpool, the ultra sound, the massage :)

Last night was crazy busy at work. And they moved all their machines to make way for an espresso machine that's coming soon. I honestly didn't know where to find the usual things all night. Felt like I'd finished a race by the end of my shift. Extra calories burned is not such a bad thing though.

This morning brekkie was simple but delish. An English muffin with home made pumpkin butter, a mango smoothie(I'll have the recipe on my other blog soon) and a cup of coffee.

Then I had to run to the store for a couple of things I was running out of. Never fails I always buy more than what I was planning to buy :)

This is going to be fun!

I have no voice now!!!! Work today is going to be fun.... not! And several people are already off sick so I can't take it off. Oh well at least today is pay day :)

Today I felt like pumpkin for breakfast so I made a protein pumpkin pancake with sugar free syrup.

Lunch was some veggies, cheese and grapes.

I'm taking a protein shake to work and buying a low fat mixed berry muffin at work.

And when I get home I'm having a glass of wine because I'm definitely going to need one by then!!

Hope you guys are feeling better than I am today.
