New Years Eve!

Well today I'm back to work 12-7! And no I won't be touching any donuts even though we're free to take any when we close tonight. (sorry I don't mean to tempt anyone else)

Decided to take this day as my rest day from exercise. It's going to be crazy busy at work and lots of cleaning before I go home :)

Started today by sleeping in. That's what happens when I haven't worked for a while. When I finally got up I made myself some lemon poppyseed oats topped with lemon curd! Kefir and coffee were definitely on the menu as well :)

I'm taking to work a protein drink and a home made gingerbread cliff bar! Not much time to eat at work today.

After work I came home and re-heated the shepherd's pie I made yesterday and we're ringing in the New Year with a glass of wine.

I did drink all my water.

I'm not doing a best of 2011 post since I had so many physical setbacks in the last year. I really do want to forget about it! I choose to believe that 2012 will be a better year :)

Weekly update

I've decided to make Friday's my weigh in days so on Fridays I'll post how the week went. The good the bad and the ugly :)

Since this was the week of Christmas I'm very happy with how it went.

Gain or loss this week: -2.6lbs
Exercise: 5 days
Friday- none
Saturday-walk 45 minutes
Sunday- Bike ride- 40 minutes
Monday-30 minute walk
Tuesday-none
Wednesday-40 minute interval walking
Thursday-70 minute walk

1. Workout at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes or 150 minutes? Yes I worked out 5 days and exercised for 225 minutes :)
2. Journal daily? yes I kept track with online WW's
3. Blog daily? I thought I did but when I checked I think I missed Tuesday!! Oh well
4. Drink at least 8 cups of water a day?? I aced this one

How would I describe this passed week?? While there was some room for improvement I was really pleased with this week. I'm pushing myself to do more exercise wise and it's really feeling good (well except for the sore butt)

What are my goals for the coming week?
I will do the 4 goals that I set for this week plus I'm going to put a new one in: Not eating after dinner!

How about you, do you set daily/weekly/monthly goals??

O.k now back to today :) Today is my day to do weights. I figured out a routine last night so I'd have no excuses not to pick up the weights. Here's what I did:

Bicep curls
cross body hammer curls
plie squat with tricep extension
shoulder press
chest press
stretching

And then I went for a walk! I'd only planned to do weights but the weather was great and my Garmin was calling so off I went on a 45 minute interval walk and I worked HARD!! Actually it works out well because I'm supposed to do an interval walk tomorrow but I'm back to work and start early so it would have been hard to get it in.

Today's nosh:
Breakfast:chocolate peanut milkshake: 1/2c 1% cottage cheese, 1 scoop vanilla protein (I only have vanilla) 2Tbsp cocoa, 10g peanut flour(I didn't put ice in because Ralph is sick in bed and I didn't want to wake him crushing ice it would have made more if I'd added it) Kefir and light 1/2&1/2 for coffee 2Tbsp

Lunch: Whole wheat english muffin, cheese slice, tomato, lettuce, egg and a glass of low carb oj on the side.
Snack: Eggnoggin' tea latte and a home made gingerbread cliff bar these are absolutely delicious !!

Dinner: Leftover split pea soup and stewed rhubarb no sugar (doesn't look like much but it was mighty tasty)

Back to work tomorrow :( I've loved being home and hanging out with my favourite guy!!

Today more walking!

Yesterday was interval walking so today I walked more for distance. Fun stuff! I actually managed to walk 4 miles today which was hard work on the snow and ice. I loved every minute of it!

I also did a lot of stretching after because my muscles are feeling really tight :(

This morning breakfast was an omelet with cheese and spinach, a banana and a glass of low sugar oj. I also had my kefir and a coffee :)

Lunch: 2 more Pc Blue menu chicken strips with flaxseed these are so good if your in Canada try them, veggies and mango

Dinner: Cabbage roll casserole and a glass of wine

Tomorrow is my weekly check in day :)

My nosh!

Here's today's nosh:

Breakfast: Protein pancake with blueberries and sf syrup, 2 Tbsp Liberte raspberry kefir and light 1/2 & 1/2 for coffee

Lunch: veggies, cheese, sweet potato chips, clementines somehow I forgot about lunch until just before dinner :( (Don`t worry I very rarely forget to eat)

Dinner: Pc Blue Menu chicken strips, baked fries, low carb ketchup, spinach and 1 tsp butter. Hot sauce on the side :)

I woke up to snow and lots of ice!! Thank goodness for my Yak Trax :) Managed to get 40 minutes of interval walking in today.

Question Day!

For new readers once a week I post a few questions. Feel free to answer and please stick around and read others answers! It has been a bit quiet over the holidays so I'm hoping it will get busier again here on Question day :)

Now for this weeks questions:

1. How did your Christmas go?  Did you get what you wished for??
2. Are you still/back on your healthy eating/exercising plan?
3. What was the best thing you ate over the holiday? (the picture above was one of my favourites, eggnog protein waffles)
4. What was the worst thing you ate over the holiday??
5. Are you planning on making New Years resolutions?

Have fun with these! I'll be back to post my answers later.

Fun, fun, fun....

This morning I made an eggnog latte with my brekkie :) Definitely going to make that again!!
I also had some eggs and kale on the side.

We were invited over to my daughter Jen and Martins house for brunch today! I love going over there because they are such foodies and it's always fun to watch them in the kitchen. Martin is French Canadian and boy oh boy can he cook :)

Which is why we had a nice walk there and back. It was snowing but at least it wasn't too bad to walk.

Today he and his side kick (Jen) made crepes. He was taught how to make them at the age of 5 amazing!!
They made crepes with maple apple filling, some fruit salad on the side and bacon. Their gorgeous cat Allie was supervising :) It was perfect. I enjoyed every bite. Thanks guys

I also got some great tips for using a cast iron pan. I think I'm going to invest in one.

Now I'm going to put my feet up and enjoy a beer and a movie!

It's Boxing Day in Canada :)

Just to keep myself accountable. After dinner last night I did pick up a couple of clementines and some cheese. I didn't go crazy it was just a snack.

Although it's boxing day here I don't go out shopping because it's crazy out there! So for me it's just another regular day.

This morning started like any morning with a bottle of water, a coffee and some brekkie. Breakfast this morning was some egg nog protein waffles with some blackberries and sugar free syrup. Oh my it was good. I also took my 2T of kefir.

In case you wonder why I take it here's what they say about it. (I take 2 tbsp a day)
As with most other probiotic products, a dose of kefir is recommended daily for its full benefits to take effect. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by its effervescence. Liberté Kefir contains 20 different kinds of bacteria and yeast. A single tablespoon (15 ml) a day yields 5 billion beneficial bacteria.

Lunch was a quick and easy one. Veggies, cheese, 2 clementines. (I forgot to take a pic)

Breakfast for dinner tonight. One of my favourite dinners. 2 eggs, 3 slices of pre-cooked bacon, a hashbrown, English muffin with home made lemon curd !

A quiet Christmas Day

A quiet Christmas day.

Started today with some fruit salad and a coffee.  I'm eating more calories at dinner so breakfast and lunch were light.

Lunch was some cheese and veggies and grapes

Dinner was roasted turkey breast, stuffing made with no butter, kale salad, home made cranberry sauce (no sugar) and 2 glasses of wine.

For exercise today we were going to go visit one of Ralph's sisters but they were going to Niagara falls to see the lights and we just didn't want to do that. Her husband has alzheimers and it's very hard to be in a car for that long with so much arguing going on. Especially on Christmas Day!

We still went on a bike ride and for me it was the first time since my hand surgery so yep going on a bike which you haven't ridden for 1 1/2 years is HARD :) And yes I had to stop and walk a couple of times. That's o.k one of my goals this year will be to consistently bike and go for nice rides with Ralph.

Hope you had a great Christmas also!

Merry Christmas!!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who comments or reads my blog! I love the feedback and the support you give me.

Another great recipe!

I finally got the problem I was having with Weight Watchers fixed! I just wanted to be able to use their online plan because it has recipes I've used before and it's a nice site to use. Now the only problem is that my Android phone can't use the mobile ww's app :(

I'm trying to make drinking water a habit again. One way I've found that works is that I have a bottle of water before my first coffee and before breakfast! Believe you me I want my coffee and breakfast so I down that first bottle pretty fast :)

Breakfast today was some orange juice with whey protein, egg substitute scrambled with kale, 2T of kefir and 2T light 1/2 & 1/2 for my coffees.

I went on another walk today but it was definitely colder than the last walk.

This is how Snuffy spends his time, spoilt or what??

For lunch I made some roasted squash with some honey, 2 clementines !! Very orange and very tasty
Then I cleaned like crazy while sipping a green tea! Thank goodness that's done.

Last night we tried this cabbage roll casserole recipe that I found on Kalyn's Kitchen. Although it took a while to put together it made a lot!! And it was a definite hit in our house. The only thing I would do differently next time would be to use shredded cabbage they sell for making coleslaw. A time saver for sure.

Dinner tonight was some warmed up stuffed pepper soup, a request from the hubby. Same picture from last night :) Yep I'm totally cheating!!
I hope all my readers have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

So how are things going??

I can answer that question by telling you about my day today!

First I started by drinking 2 cups of water and used my new water bottle.

Then I made a protein smoothie made with almond breeze, protein, banana and maca, 2T of Liberte kefir (it really helps the tummy). I used my new measuring spoons, sounds funny but they motivate me to measure more.

I'm loving my Keurig. Today's pick is Green Mountain gingerbread with a shot of warm Vitasoy mint chocolate! Yes a peppermint mocha it was.

O.k now I was ready for action!! Well at least for a  45 minute walk.

Even my nails are in the Christmas spirit :) (sorry abut the middle finger it's the injured one and I can't bend it)

Lunch: I had an English muffin with egg substitute, bacon, a cheese slice and some oj

Dinner: Stuffed pepper soup, clementines and a glass of wine (I'll post the recipe tomorrow,  not for the wine but the soup)

I also drank 2 green teas today.

I give myself an A+ for today :)

How was your day??
