Update!

A pretty short post because I'm really tired! I slept maybe 3 hours last night, I was up all night coughing.

I got some great news today. First I went for a test at my vascular surgeons. For those that don't know I had 2 stents put in a major artery at the top of my right leg because it was pretty much totally blocked. Well the left side has signs that it will need a stent one day too. Anyway after the test today and visiting with the Dr he said the left side and shown no more blockage that it did 3 years ago. Great news. I don't have to go back for the next test for another year :) Oh and I asked about taking calcium because someone else had told me that if you have bad stenosis you shouldn't take calcium because it increases the risk of a stroke especially in women. He said that I definitely should be taking calcium. He also said that the way my body produces scar tissue has in no way affected the stents :) So good news all around.

After that fun I went to my favourite health food store to pick up some supplies. The to Starbucks to get a coffee.

Back on the bus to the clinic to see about this bronchitis I've got. I guess the last antibiotic didn't work so they prescribed a new one plus an inhaler so hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.

I did manage to to get 45 minutes of power walking and now the only thing I'm doing to visiting my couch :)

Today's nosh:

Pre-packed lunch which I ate all over town today!

Dinner: chicken breast, salad with home made balsamic vinaigrette, green beans with bacon and a glass of wine

We always have choices!


Just because I've been sick does not mean I'm not serious about getting healthy.

Tomorrow morning I need to fast because I'm going to have to have some tests done before I see my specialist. After that I need to see my daughter and then off to the clinic to see what they have to say.

I could easily stop into one of many fast food places I'm going to be going past but instead I've packed up some food to take with me. Since I joined this challenge on SparkPeople I've really been trying to figure how to live a bit healthier!

I packed some raw veggies (peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, radishes) as well as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries. A single serving of cheese, a peach mango tofu treat and I'll have half an avocado drizzled with some lime juice. Yep that should hold me until I get home.

I finally figured it's all about choices and I'm the only one that makes the choices for me.

Why does this happen to me??


I barely have a voice again today :( I can't believe how hard it has been for me to try and get rid of this bug I've caught!!

I have to go to my vascular surgeon tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'll be going back to the clinic afterwards. I really need to feel better ASAP.

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging as often as I usually do but honestly I used all my energy just to get through work.

I did manage to get out for a short walk this afternoon, I just really wish I had the energy to do more today.

I hope I find out tomorrow at the Dr's just what's going on!

Hubs gets a thumbs up from the Dr!

I got up super early this morning and practically ran around the grocery store :) That was a workout itself!!

We went to the follow-up cardiologist appointment for Ralph and his Dr said she was very happy with all the tests. That's a load of stress off right there. On Monday I go for a check up on my stents, hopefully that will go just as well.

Snuffy was watching everything I do :) yep he get's very serious about his job. I love that he still has the one white hair on his chest. That's the only white hair he has. (Now he's going to stalk me for telling you)

Breakfast was on the run: a protein drink and a fibre one bar

Lunch: salad with a peanut vinegrette, spicy california rolls

At work: Fruit container, veggie container, cheese and yogurt

After work a glass of wine!

A very productive day!

Tomorrow is going to be a bit crazy! I have to grab some groceries quick, go to a cardiologist appointment with Ralph come home have lunch and get ready for work :)

So today I decided I wanted to get some things done. Let's see I:

1. Cleaned my stove top, burners, sides and behind/under the stove

2. Sorted and cleaned my front hall closet

3. Went on an hour walk

4. Cut Ralphs hair

5. Did laundry

6. Cleaned the cat litter, emptied the garbage, fed the cat (or I wouldn't be alive right now)

7. Cleaned out the fridge

Honestly don't think I could do any more!!

Today's Nosh

Breakfast: oats, blueberries, cranberries and a splash of light coconut milk. 2 Tbsp kefir and 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee

Lunch: slice of toast with thai chili tuna and melted cheese, rhubarb and raw almonds

Dinner: pasta with lean ground beef, parmesan cheese and a yogurt

Was it snow/hail or rain???


It was all three!! Yes it snowed, rained and had hail on my walk today.

I did manage to get an hour of walking in. I also did a 14 minute yoga routine and a 20 minute fitness band routine :)

Today's Nosh

Breakfast: 1/2c egg substitute omelet, 1/2 leftover sausage, cheese, 1 slice of toast with 1 tbsp jam. 2 tbsp kefir and 2 tbsp 5% cream for coffee

Lunch: weight watchers latte (I found it in the cupboard), 2 yogurt, banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter

Dinner: Chicken strips, stuffing, swiss chalet dipping sauce, corn and rhubarb (yep, cleaning out my cupboards and fridge)

Back to regular programming!

Sorry to have been gone so long but when I'm sick I find it very hard to stay with any kind of schedule eating wise as well as exercise wise. In fact it was hard to breath without coughing.

Last night was the first time I've slept in bed and not sitting up on the couch, so I guess I must be almost back to normal :)

When I get sick I get really sick.

So I have joined a challenge on Spark People called the BLC (Biggest loser challenge) they are a fun group and they will whip me into shape in no time! Of course I have to the hard work :)

I've decided to get back into doing what I know works for me. So today I'm back to getting all my water in (when I was sick the antibiotic left such a nasty taste in my mouth that I wasn't drinking as much).
I'm also going to get at least 20 minutes in 6 days a week.
I've made a menu plan and I'll be picking up groceries on Thursday so that will make things a little easier as well.

I honestly don't know how people stick to plan when they're sick. All I want is Hall's, cough syrup, nasal sprays, kleenex and sleep :) Chocolate and carbs are also high on my list! Oh and when I'm sick I need to stay in my pj's all day.

Back to daily blogging and keeping caught up with my blog reading. I seriously got behind so I'm sorry if I haven't commented where I usually do.

Believe it or not it's supposed to snow today!! I did have a meeting to go to today but I decided I'm not 100% better and my throat is still sore so I decided to stay home. Ralph convinced me that I should try to get some exercise in so we went on the bus to the local mall and power walked there for 30 minutes.

I want to see how many days I can go exercising at least 20 minutes a day. Today is day 1.

Today's nosh

Breakfast: banana split oats! Oats, strawberries, banana, sf chocolate syrup and a Tbsp of granola

Lunch: wasn't really hungry so I made some iced coffee and added a chocolate protein drink. Hit the spot (no picture)

Dinner: English banger (sausage) baked fries and baked beans

Enough of being sick!!!

Am I still sick?? yep

Am I going to spend my day laying on the couch in my pj's?? NO

After reading several motivating blogs I decided that whether I'm sick or not today I will eat my meals on schedule, I will workout, I will drink all of my water and I'll even get some cleaning done in the house :)

Update: Went on a 50 minute walk

Update: cleaned behind and under the fridge as well as the inside
             vacuumed the furniture
             vacuumed my workout room
             dusted and vacuumed my bedroom
             did the dishes and the laundry
             disinfected all the door knobs and light switches
             aired the house out to hopefully get rid of some of the germies

So far I've drank 9 cups of water

Today's Nosh;

Breakfast: 1/2c egg substitute omelet with cheddar cheese, glass of oj, slice of toast with jam. 2 Tbsp kefir and 2 Tbsp 5% cream on the side

Lunch: Grilled ham and cheese with veggies and a glass of bolthouse green goodness

Dinner: chicken strips with thai dipping sauce and some baked fries

Supposed to be a weekly update!


And here I am still sick!! Every now and then I think I'm starting to get better and "BAM" it's back :(

This week I really haven't accomplished anywhere near the amount of exercise I like to get in. I have very little energy.

My eating hasn't been bad but I've had days where I'm no where near the amount of calories I should be eating.

I haven't stepped on the scale and really don't care right now!

Hopefully next week I'll have more of an update besides how much medicine and how many boxes kleenex I've gone through.

Back to regular blogging!

Since I have to go back to work today I've decided it's time to get back to my regular blogging!

So before I went to work I did manage to do a Spark People DVD workout :)

I am drinking my water again so that's good.

Food is now back to normal!

Today's nosh

Breakfast: 1/2c egg substitute scrambled, 2 turkey sausages, 1 slice of toast with olive oil margarine. 2 Tbsp kefir and 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee on the side.

Lunch: veggie container, crackers, cheese, frozen yogurt(they feel so good on a sore throat) and pineapple

At work: protein drink, fruit container and a fibre 1 bar

Well it's a nice day :)

Well I'm still off of work today! In fact I know that even though I'm back to work tomorrow it's going to be hard. Where I work the air is very dry and even when I'm not sick you cough and have a dry throat by the end of the shift. So tomorrow will be very interesting. I've loaded up on Hall's, Sucrets and benylin.
I really hope I get some sleep tonight because I've been up every night coughing and that was while sleeping on the couch half sitting up.

I did go out for groceries today because well we had nothing left in the fridge!! That was the first time I've been outside in 5 days. I met a few customers that I know from work and they informed me that I looked and sounded bad. Thank you, thank you very much. I wouldn't have known that if you hadn't told me :)

Anyway, I've decided to get out for a short walk this afternoon. Fresh air and some Vitamin D will be good for me. Ended up walking for 30 minutes :)

Honestly I've been eating whatever sounded good at the time and not much of it at that. Tonight I hope to make up a menu for the next week. I'm also upping my water intake. I bought some Crystal light which I don't usually use but right now water just doesn't taste good to me so I'm hoping that will help increase how much I'm drinking.

I'm so glad I'm in a Biggest Loser Challenge on SparkPeople it's really keeping my mind in the game.
