Back to regular programming

What with work and the beautiful weather I haven't been around Blogville much! It's just so nice out that I find it hard to just sit and do nothing. Which isn't really a bad thing at all :)

Anyway, today I did some cleaning, some shopping and then I met up with my walking group. I seriously doubt there was any ice around!

You should see the produce I have since I started juicing. Bok choy, celery, romaine, kale, spinach, cucumber, lemons, limes, peppers, tomatoes, oranges, pineapple, apple, cilantro, thai basil, beets and beet greens!! And I'm probably forgetting a few because they're in the back of the fridge :)

I had planned to have some chipotle tuna with my lunch but did I have it?? Nope, totally forgot about it. I also forgot a couple of ingredients I had meant to add to my stirfry tonight.  Wow I guess I'm going to have to start making myself little post it's.

It's not easy but it is worth it!

Yesterday was a weird day, I felt really snacky yet I wasn't hungry. I could easily have eaten a lot more than I did but it would have been for no reason.

Throughout the day each time I had a craving for something I stopped and asked myself if I was hungry. The answer was no. Then I made a huge iced green tea and chugged that down. If I was still feeling as though I needed something I made a decaf coffee!! When it was dinner time I'd planned on salmon but I really didn't want it. I looked in the freezer and there was a pizza there, there was also macaroni and cheese and I could even have gone out to eat. Then I sat down and figured out what I would like that I would enjoy eating and wouldn't be a sodium nightmare. So I made a 1 egg 3 egg white omelet, a piece of Ezekiel toast and some greek yogurt. Tasty and filling and it won't send my blood pressure sky rocketing in the morning. Sodium really does a number on me.

No idea why this happened but at the end of the day I was really proud that I had stuck to plan and went to bed knowing that I'd had another good day under my belt.

Today so far today I've been fine and no head games going on :)

I prepped my veggies this morning so it would be easy to put together my spring rolls tonight and my first fresh juice!!  I made red juice because that's the one I always get at Thrive. Sooooooooo good! Beets/beet greens/kale/spinach/lime/pineapple/apple. I'm looking forward to doing more soon.

I needed to drop off a movie where I volunteer because they have a movie afternoon once a month that has been a huge success. In order to get some extra exercise in today I walked from the bus depot to the office and then walked back to the bus depot. I also got off the bus a long way before home so I walked the rest of the way home. Yep now I'm hot and tired but still smiling!!

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: 1 egg 2 egg whites scrambled, 1 cheese stick, 1 slice Ezekiel toast, almond breeze for coffee and 2 Tbsp kefir

Lunch: my first home made juice made with fresh beets, apple, lemon, cucumber, pineapple, kale and spinach, 3oz chicken breast, greek yogurt with honey honestly wasn't hungry!

Dinner: I made my first summer rolls with peanut lime dipping sauce and more veggies Thanks to Angela and my daughter for inspiring me :) I even went to an Asian grocery store to find Thai basil. Funny thing all the herbs were marked spices but no names so I had to ask someone which was the Thai basil.

Snack: Jack Links jerky nuggets and bud light lime while sitting outside enjoying the shade :)

Still smiling!

I had a dentist appointment this morning. Just an examination and cleaning. I haven't had a cavity in 6 years!! I love my dentist :)

Jen picked me up from the dentist to go do some more packing. Getting a lot accomplished and I have been getting a workout from it.

I am now the proud owner of a juicer!! Can't wait to start. Any tips to share????

Yesterday I was very active today not as much. It's probably for the good I think I needed a bit of a rest day. In fact I actually had a nap this afternoon which I normally never do!

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: Shreddies with strawberries, banana, almond breeze and 2 Tbsp kefir

Snack after the dentist: Dubliner Irish cheese, small yellow plums

Lunch: baby spinach, roasted tomatoes, avocado, peppers and a couple of cherries drizzled with chili oil, balsamic vinegar, ginger, garlic and seasoned vinegar

Snack: Strawberries

Dinner: salmon with green beans and rice Nope I just wasn't feeling it so instead I made a one egg four egg white omelet with a slice of Ezekiel toast and some greek yogurt with honey and blueberries

Walking, walking and more walking

Wow today was definitely a very busy day, it was also very hot!!

I started today by stopping by Starbucks, Thrive juice bar and my favorite health food store.

I needed to pick up coffee, Chili olive oil in a mister and then had an awesome fresh red juice at Thrive. One of my favourite juices.

After that I met up with my walking group. It was so hot even getting there but I managed to not only walk there but then get some more walking done inside where it was cooler.

Then I met up with Jen and we went up to her dad's place to sort out some of his things. Wow hot day, no fans and no air conditioning I definitely burned some mega calories :)

Enjoying my day off!

This is the first Sunday I've had off in a long time! And I'm determined to not spend it sitting on the couch all day.

First thing I made sure to do was to go on a nice long walk. Yep mosquito's are not going to keep me away today :) At the end of my walk I went to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for dinner tonight.

We needed to go to the mall today to get a new bra for my girls and to return something. I love going to that mall because I get lots of walking in too! I just wish it had a Starbucks there because I want to pick up some sugar free mocha syrup. Oh well I'll pick it up tomorrow.

We decided to eat lunch at the mall and Ralph decided to get some Thai soup. I had already planned my lunch so I took it along with me :) Two pictures one before I shake it around and the other the very messy but yummy lunch.

By the time we got home it was time to make dinner. Chef Ralph grilled some amazing steak today. Also had a glass of wine.

Now I'm off to put my feet up and relax.

How was your day???

Back to the donuts!!

Ha you thought I meant eating the donuts, nope just back to selling them today :)

Yesterday when I went to work there was a box of chocolates on the staff room table. A customer had brought them in for us to share! How sweet. Yeah right!! Any way I looked at them and looked and them and I finally had 2. I journaled it and I still had a 379 calorie deficit. I was really booting it at work yesterday and had over 13,400 steps. Now if only people would stop dropping off the chocolates!

Anyway after the busy day at work yesterday my body is feeling stiff and sore all over.  I'm resisting taking my anti inflammatory for arthritis because my kidneys don't like them. Hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if it was because of the sugar yesterday.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start.

How times change

Last night I was making up a grocery list for tomorrow and as I looked at it I was thinking how different that list would have been a few years ago!

This is what is on my list to pick up in the morning:

  • cucumber, peppers, kale, green onions, apples, avocado, tomato
  • blueberries, bananas, ginger, strawberries and pineapple
  • dubliner cheese
  • frozen spinach
  • greek yogurt
  • eggs, egg whites
  • ezekiel bread
  • chicken tenders
  • tuna for us and for Snuffy!
  • almond breeze
  • shrimp
  • coffee
  • green tea
  • popcorn
  • turkey
  • 2 frozen dinners for the hubs while I'm at work
  • bragg amino acids
  • agave
  • vitamin D
  • folic acid
  • honey
  • protein powder

This is what would have been on my list years ago:

  • chips and dip
  • pop
  • frozen fish fingers
  • ice cream
  • popsicles
  • bananas
  • white bread
  • poptarts
  • sugar
  • chef boyardee
  • macaroni and cheese (we still have it but not every week)
  • muffins
  • fries

I'm not kidding each and everyone of those would have been in my cart! Every week!

Believe you me I do feel a lot better for not each that stuff.  In fact I upped my water intake yesterday and today and I'm already feeling so much better. Sometimes you just don't realize how much better just a few changes will make.

I didn't all of a sudden decide I was going to change my eating. It was definitely baby steps and it took quite a while to figure out what foods I liked and what ones I still don't like :)

Now I'm off to get ready for work.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: greek yogurt, raspberries, banana, slice of toast, 2 tbsp kefir and almond breeze for coffee

Lunch: chopped veggies, chilli dressing, tuna and my iced tea for today ;)

Snack: green monster (kale, frozen spinach, banana, pineapple, protein powder, blueberries and water)

Took to work: apple, dubliner Irish cheese, protein drink (not shown)

After work: a glass of wine :) Friday is usually the busiest day at work and I do have to say I enjoy a glass of wine after!
