New Year's Eve


Last night I let the stress get to me and for some reason believed that filling my belly would make me feel better! Not!

Today is a new day and I have planned what I'm eating and I am going to stick to it.

For exercise today I got off of the bus early and did Week 5 Day 1 of the C25K! I'm gradually feeling stronger. Huge non scale victory today, I ran. Not all the time but I ran more than I've ever been able to before :)

I also visited someone who is helping me in the fight against our landlord! Thank goodness for friends. We got some positive answers today and I don't think anything is going to be happening.

I don't really make New Years Resolutions but that isn't to say I don't have plans for the New Year!

I am going to stick with Weight Watchers because it works for me. When I do the work! I plan to be at goal weight so that I won't need to keep paying them every month.

I really hope that I will be able to run in 2013.

I need to work on my flexability I've lost a lot and need to get that back.

Another thing that I need to work on is getting the house and paperwork organized. Now that's a hard one for me.

Today's nosh

Breakfast: 2 gingerbread muffins and 1/2c egg substitute scrambled, 5% cream for coffee

Lunch: sauteed zucchini with meatless crumbles mixed with taco seasoning and salsa topped with light cheddar cheese Didn't have because I wasn't hungry!

Snack: banana

Dinner: chilli mac, salad and dressing

At midnight: glass of wine

Stress, stress and more stress!

Last July a new owner took over our complex. I won't get into too much detail except to say there is some miscommunication between us. For some reason they don't think we're paying rent even though I've proved we are!! 

So on Friday 10 minutes before I was going to leave for work I get some mail stating that they're taking us to landlord and tenant court. OMG!!! We've lived here over 10 years and never had these issues before.

Anyway long story short we have subsidized housing and housing is furious with the landlord and between us we're trying to sort it out.

So much stress especially when it's the weekend and the holidays and I can't get in touch with anyone. Luckily I'm off to meet with our worker tomorrow and I have no doubt that it will be sorted out. 

Update: just talked to a neighbour and they've been getting those papers and the people beside them. Harassment it is!!

That is why I wasn't blogging this weekend. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Back to today:

I read something this morning and I'm sorry I don't remember where but it said that when you go into a store and buy something that you know is a trigger you are just buying it to binge eat it. Or something to that effect. What it meant to me was that if I go into the grocery store and think oh I could buy a packet of mini chocolate chips and just put a few on some banana oatmeal that is not really why I'm buy it, I'm buying it to eat the whole thing and you know what? That's so true!! I would indeed end up binge eating on them. Hit home.

Today I spent some time cleaning and doing a little organizing. Trying to keep myself busy.

egg, ham, potato, peppers, onions and 5% cream for coffee just 1 tbsp

Lunch: veggies, light cheese, light yoghurt, and a clementine 

Dinner: my favourite italian wedding soup, light bread toasted and 2 tsp light margarine 

After dinner: glass of wine

Snow!


The snow finally made it here! I have to admit I’ve been missing it. Just goes to show what kind of winter we’ve had, I was on my way out the door to catch the bus and realized my boots were still in the storage closet. I just went out in running shoes Smile

The reason I was in a rush to get to the bus was because today I having lunch with my daughter Jen. She let me pick out where and I decided to go for Korean. I’ve had it once before and loved it so I figured it would be a good choice. I loved it. What I chose was mainly chicken with veggies and all the side veggies. I didn’t eat the rice and left satisfied and not bloated.

I remember that Starbucks had BYGO for their holiday drinks so I treated Jen Smile Yep I’m cheap! I had the skinny peppermint mocha and it was so good. I used the app on my phone to pay for it on my Starbucks card. Love it! Means I don’t have to hunt for the card all the time.

On my way home I got off of the bus early so I could do Week 4 Day 3 of the C25K! Done!

After that I picked up my groceries for the week. Now I won't have as much running around to do tomorrow before work.

Also managed to get a short ab workout done.

Today’s nosh:

Breakfast: baked berry oatmeal, almond breeze for coffee 0pp

Lunch: DakChulPan plus sides 0pp It was just chicken, veggies and a sauce that wasn’t oily at all and tasted very light.

Dinner: I was going to make soup but honestly I’m not very hungry. I ended up making a small panini using light bread, italian ham and light cheese and tomato, veggies on the side(spicy pickled beans that Jen and Martin made which are amazing!!) plus 2 Godiva chocolates 3pp

Back to normal!

As much as I love the holiday's I'm also very happy to get back into my normal routines.

Today I'm back to doing my normal daily/weekly routines.

I started today with an amazing breakfast followed by a great weight workout.

Then I did nothing. I was glued to my seat. That is until Ralph said he was going out for a bike ride and was I going to go out on a walk?? Well o.k then. Good job when he said that I didn't know how cold it was outside. The temperature was -6 Celsius with the wind chill it felt like -16 Celsius. Which in Fahrenheit was 21F or -4. By the time I got home my cheeks were red, my legs were red and my feet were frozen.

Oh well at least I got some movement in and I feel like I'm back to normal.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: thin bun, 1 egg, ham, light cheese, tomato slice and blackberries 0pp

Lunch: Didn't really feel hungry so I made a protein Candy Cane Milkshake and had a couple of clementines 2pp

Dinner: Turkey breast, gravy, 1/3c low sodium stuffing not made with butter, veggies, a couple of pieces of potato and cranberry sauce with no sugar 4pp (This was our Christmas dinner)

It's Christmas!

What a lovely relaxing day we had.

First we slept in since it’s just Ralph and I. Followed by a healthy on plan breakfast.
I completed Week4 Day2 of the C25K this morning. I ended up walking for a total of 70 minutes.

We’re supposed to get a huge dump of snow tomorrow SmileI can’t wait to go for a walk in the woods!

A light lunch and then we got ready to go out.

We were invited to go over to Jen and Martin place for dinner. What I love about my daughter is that you never know what they’ll be cooking. They are such foodies!! Today they made tuna which I’ve always wanted to try but just haven’t had the opportunity. Wow, so good.

This is Allie and Bubba they're so cute!

Jen bought us a Wii and we are slowly trying the different games. Right now we’re into darts Winking smile. Ummm I started out strong but Ralph is kicking my butt now!!

Today’s nosh:

Breakfast: egg substitute omelette, with light cheese, jalapeno peppers and spinach with some fruit on the side

Lunch: veggies, apple and turkey

Dinner at Jen’s: I ended up having a couple of dirty martini's, a couple of appatizers, tuna, rice, hot and sour soup, some yummy chicken  and some wine! Loved every bite :) Sorry no pictures of everything guess I was too busy eating!

Merry Christmas Eve

I forgot to mention in yesterdays post that for the stuffed cabbage roll casserole I made I used meatless crumbles instead of meat! Makes perfect leftovers for today’s meatless Monday Smile

This morning I decided to get a 40 minute power walk in as well as doing some weights. I’m still working on putting a weight routine together but for today I made a list of 7 weight exercises and did 8 of each 3 times! Hope I’ll be able to move tomorrow!

8 bicep curls
8 shoulder presses
8 sumo squats
8 tricep extensions on each arm
8 pushups
8 hammer curls
8 crunches

The above done 3 times.

Tomorrow Jen has invited us over and she’ll be serving tuna which I haven’t tried yet, although I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll be having turkey on Boxing day.

Today’s nosh:

Breakfast: a new to me breakfast! Berry rice pudding which was just some leftover brown rice mixed with yoghurt and blueberries. Tasted really good and was quick and easy to put together. Cherry tomatoes on the side. 0pp

Lunch: Detox smoothie and a gingerbread muffin 1pp

Dinner: Leftover meatless stuffed cabbage casserole with some beans on the side 0pp

Wasn't too busy today!

I decided to go to the mall today to look for a cheap game for the Wii that Jennifer got us for Christmas. We found one that we can play darts/shuffle board/arcade games :) Lots of fun to come. We also picked up a couple of movies.

While we were at the mall we went to the food court and ate some Swiss Chalet. Which worked out great. I took my own dressing because I wasn't sure what they had and a clementine. I ordered a quarter chicken white meat and a side salad. For a drink I ordered a bottle of water. That was definitely a non scale victory.

Before I went to the mall I went out to complete Week 4 Day 2 of the C25K. Loved the crisp air.

Something interesting happened this morning.  For breakfast I ate a couple of gingerbread muffins that I'd made the other day (healthy recipe), some Greek yoghurt and an orange. While I was eating it I thought to myself the muffins were o.k but not very sweet and not very big. Then it was a like a light bulb moment. I realized that because they weren't sweet or overly rich tasting was exactly why they were good. I could eat them, enjoy them but not have cravings for more. Not wanting to binge on them was a great feeling. I've slowly come to realize that when I'm eating healthy for me foods that they aren't going to taste like fudge or cake which is exactly why they are good for me.

Breakfast: 2 gingerbread muffins, Greek yoghurt, clementine and 5% cream for coffee opp

Lunch: At the mall
1/4 chicken white meat, salad, blue menu dressing from home, clementine, bottle of water opp

Dinner: Kalyn's stuffed cabbage casserole, carrots 0pp
