Choices!

We all have choices. What choices we make determines whether we will stay in the same place, move forward or move back.

Today I went out for lunch with my daughter Jennifer. I didn't hesitate for a second. I love spending time with Jen and I know no matter where we went for lunch I could find something that I'd not only enjoy but would fit into my plan.

We ended up going to Beertown in Waterloo. My first time there. Although it was packed I really enjoyed it.

I ate a light breakfast to give myself some extra points for lunch. Lunch was more about the great company than the food. I'm happy with the choices I made.

Crazy weather today! Snow is back and it came in snow squalls. Very windy.

After lunch Jen offered me a ride home but I had to turn her down. I knew if I took the bus home I had planned on getting off early and getting a 45 minute walk in. If Jen drove me home I probably was not going to get any walk in. Choices.

The walk really wasn't too bad.

Since I've had my new phone I've been using Instagram a lot. However sometimes the quality of the pictures is not good, not good at all. So I'm going keep doing instagram but I'm also going to take pictures with my old point and shoot.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: 1/2c egg substitute omelet, spinach, light cheese, berries and 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee

Lunch: Beer garden salad (BEERGARDEN spring mix, Napa cabbage, beets, carrots,
celery, radishes, cucumbers, pickled red onions, beer poached pears, candied pecans,
dried cranberries, Kronenbourg vinaigrette, with 2 slices of arugula & prosciutto bruschetta
The salad was really good! Not too many pecans which probably helps keep the calories down :) The bruschetta came out a lot bigger than I thought it would be so I ate one then just ate the prosciutto from the other one. Hey I have my priorities :) Actually I offered it to Jen but she was full from the beer and cheese soup and fish tacos she ordered. Sorry for the crappy pic!

Dinner: leftover home made hamburger helper, veggies
Water: 8 cups
Exercise: 45 minute walk

Where were you when the lights went out!

After I published the post last night the power went off!! For over an hour.

Candles came out, and thank goodness for my new phone, we were able to get the local radio station that told us what was going on.

Actually it turned out quite romantic. Candle light, wine, and me :)

What wasn't romantic were the number of trips to the candlelight bathroom because I drank so much water. lol

There was a small accident with a candle which I won't go into but I will say please be careful with candles.

Today I needed to photo copy some important papers and get them mailed. I also ended up going on a walk. No snow!! 11 Celsius this morning.

I don't know whether I ever said what happened but a while ago Ralph fell in the shower. Being the good wife that I am I went out and got a mat that was supposed to be slip proof. Unfortunately the first time I put my foot into the bathtub the mat slipped and I had a huge bruise on my knee. So today I bought some non slip strips to put on the bath and thank goodness there should be no more slipping.

The water is going down again today. I won't say it's easy but I'm getting it done.  Did you make a challenge?? How's it going??

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: Bob's red mill mighty tasty hot cereal, berries, 1 Tbsp sugar free syrup, 2 Tbsp 5% cream

Lunch: veggies, clementine, pc blue menu blue cheese dressing, Kashi cherry dark chocolate bar

Dinner: Home made hamburger helper, brussels sprouts, 1 tsp olive oil

After dinner: glass of red wine

Weekly goals are back!

Quite a while ago I used to do weekly goals and surprise they definitely helped me to stay on plan! I'm bringing them back. I'm normally going to start them on Sundays so this week will be a shorter week than usual.

If you want to commit to a weekly goal let me know in the comments and when I post an update on Sunday let us know how it went. Bragging is definitely allowed but please don't feel bad if you didn't succeed there's always next week.

My goal for this week from today (Tuesday) till Saturday is to drink at least 8 cups of water a day! That's just 5 days!! You definitely don't need to do the same one I do but makes yours something that will help you. Don't forget to come back Sunday and tell us how it went.

Today was a very busy day. First I needed to go grocery shopping. When I have lots of healthy choices it makes it so much easier to stay on plan.

Then I needed to buy a new shower head. If I went outside and it was drizzling with rain I'd get wetter than standing under my old shower head :)

I also needed to buy new earphones for my new phone. I love my new Sony Xperia phone but the earphones that came with it are obviously for people with bigger ears than I have. They just kept popping out. When doing my C25K it is so annoying to constantly be putting them back in. So I bought some Sony sport earphones and they definitely won't be falling out.

We need to run to catch the bus to the mall this morning so I grabbed a packet of instant oats and chopped up a fig to have in it. Wow they sure don't give you much in one of those packets do they?? I also had 2 cups of water before I got to the bus.

While we were at the mall I decided to have a bowl on Tom Yum soup with shrimp! This is one of my favourite lunches. Oh and yes there was a bottle of water on the side.

Finally home and now I'm going to go try out the new shower head! Then since I'm still full from lunch I'm just going to have a simple dinner.

Ralph bought the movie Taken 2 today so that's what we're going to watch and I'm going to have a glass of wine :)

8 cups of water are done and the nights not over yet....

No walk today due to the amount of ice on some of the side walks hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: packet of high fibre instant oats with raisins and I add a fig to it. 5% cream for coffee and a bottle of water

Lunch: Tom Yum soup with shrimp from Thai express and a bottle of water

Snack: bottle of water, iced herbal tea

Dinner: veggies, pc blue menu honey dijon dressing for dip, Kashi cherry dark chocolate granola bar and a clementine, bottle of water

After dinner: glass of wine
# of cups of water so far = 8

Update!

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days but after all the stress I needed a few days off.

So remember I told you I was having issues with the property management?? They sent us a letter 2 days after Christmas telling us that we were going to be evicted due to owing money?? Money that we never owed! I had bank statements that showed they'd cashed my rent cheques. Any way.... they then sent us notice that they were taking us to a landlord and tenant tribunal (court).
We are on subsidized housing and housing assured us that 1 to 2 days before the tribunal we would get a call cancelling it. Nope. On Wednesday I went to the tribunal with a friend for support. We got there and 10 minutes later they told us that our case was dismissed to which I kindly told them NO DAH we don't owe anything.

Thankfully that is all over now and I don't have to deal with my poor husband believing that we were going to have to move. Stress ++

Now back to regular programming.

This is the forecast for today. Not so nice, in fact pretty messy.

I made myself french toast with cranberry/blueberry sauce for breakfast. I'm starting to feel back to normal :)

I received some e-mails wondering how I was doing. Thanks guys. Glad you didn't forget me.

I never said I was an artist!

Today is colder than yesterday!

I did end up walking to where I was volunteering to help with a games afternoon. Managed to do Week 6 Day 3 of the C25K speed walking :) When I've finished week 8 I'm going to re-start and try to run!!

At the games afternoon I attempted to play pictionary but seeing I have absolutely no talent for drawing it ended up being pretty hilarious!

I took along some veggies, dip, apple and peanut butter and I planned on having a cupcake that a lovely lady bakes for us for every event. I ate one and totally enjoyed it. They did actually have veggies and fruit there today which I thought was great.

Came home and enjoyed some good coffee!
Today's nosh:

Breakfast: cherry vanilla oatmeal smoothie, 1/2c egg substitute scrambled, 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee (hot sauce on the eggs after I took the pic)

Snack: 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee

Lunch on the go:  veggies, honey dijon light dip, apple, peanut butter, one small vanilla cupcake with icing

Dinner: cup of bean and bacon soup, 2 weight watcher baguettes I put in the panini machine!

My shoes must be wearing out!

As I said yesterday today was a busy day! Lots of running around.

I started today with a great breakfast because I knew it would have to fuel me for a while.

Before I left the house I picked up my weights. I was happy that I was able to increase some of the exercises from 5lb to 10lbs. Managed to do a 25 minute weight workout.

Then I met Jen for a coffee at Starbucks. I'm loving my coffee with 2 shots of toffee nut. Mmmm tastes so good without too many calories.

After getting some much needed caffeine I walked to meet up with my walking group.

I also needed to go to my favourite store (Hickory & Tweed) for some of my favourite coffee k-pods. Jamaica me crazy is one of my favourites.

Then it was back on the road to walk to a meeting.  All in all I walked for over 2 hours today :) Yep, I think I'm going to need new shoes soon.

I loved  this meeting because it's all about the correlation between walking and better mental health.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: 1/2c egg substitute omelet with baby spinach, onion, light cheese, an orange, a slice of Silver Hills Big 16 bread with 1 tsp of butter and 2 Tbsp 5% cream for coffee

Snack: at starbucks Coffee with 2 shots of toffee nut and 2 tbsp of half and half cream

On the go: 25g of tamari almonds

At the meeting: deli ham, hot salami, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, baby carrots, 2 lindt chocolates, green tea (it was set up for sandwiches but I just chose without the bread) no picture as this was during a meeting.

At home: glass of much enjoyed wine :)

It's so cold!!

So cold here today!! -8 Celsius or -18 with the windchill!!

I was tempted to just do some Wii workouts but then I thought no I can dress really warm and still enjoy a walk :) Love talking to myself into things!

Today I also spent quite a bit of time planning my meals for the next week. It really does save me time and stress in the long run.

This week the stress from my housing situation should be resolved. Any day now they should be backtracking because they don't have a leg to stand on.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I'm meeting Jen for a coffee then I'll be off to meet my walking group. After that I'm off to a meeting. I also need to do my weight workout before I go out tomorrow. I think I'll be glad to get home and put my feet up by the end of the day :)

I've been finding quotes are inspiring and repeating them during the day helps to keep my mojo going. Today's is: focus, determination, persistence, clean eating and exercise will make it happen... just keep going! Love it.

I'm way behind on blog reading so I apologize if I haven't left comments lately but I am reading your blog.

Today's nosh:

Breakfast: egg, bacon, slice of Silver Hills Big 16 bread, Jen's home made apple butter and 5% cream for coffee

Lunch: leftover cilantro lime quinoa with chopped veggies, blueberries

Dinner: whole wheat spaghetti, classico 4 cheese alfredo sauce, parmesan cheese (doesn't look like much but it was sooooo good)

After dinner: glass of wine

I love trying new things!

It's back to work so not much else going on today!

I made overnight apricot ginger oats for breakfast which were really good. Next time I'm going to put more ginger in because I love it :)

I also made for the first time and definitely not the last time cilantro lime quinoa. Amazing. I added some chopped veggies and had some for lunch. Just chopping the onion, garlic, cilantro and veggies made me smile. I have to admit I'm a foodie.

Anyway I must go get ready for work I'll have a longer post tomorrow.

Lunch: cilantro lime quinoa with chopped veggies, pc blue menu strawberry smoothie bar
